As the other thread said I sent back the Genelec 8341's and bought the Dynaudio Core 59's. I have to say though, in a personal studio it feels like I've bought a sledgehammer to put up a few pictures. They're great but OTT for sure, ahh well I like them and I hope they'll last me a decade or more.. So where are you up to now with setting up the studio….what have you settled …big 6 etc? cheers Wiz Pretty much done Wiz and I've already started putting songs together, a few bits are on backorder but that's to be expected. I followed your suggestion and bought a bunch of outboard then used Logic's I/O plug. Looked into various desks etc. but they just felt unnecessary.

I couldn't resist, I bought one Classic DI from Audioscape. They were still available this sunday morning & so I got one out of the two available.
There is only one audio demo to my knowledge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhMh-8NVE5g&t=476s), I like what the Load knob does. I want to try it on synths for sure.
Anybody has experience with it ?

I bought Nugen's Monofilter and SigMod plug-ins on Saturday, mainly to play around with some crossover-based mults. Then this morning Waves sent me a license for MultiMod Rack, a crossover-based distortion rack.. odd. Necroreply, but are you (or anyone else) still using SigMod? Looks like a great utility plug, and they just added a few more modes.

SPL Transient Designer 2, which I really don't need, but it was a good price. I'll hook it up in the home mixing rig...or I might come to my senses and sell or trade it!

I still think the hardware is better than the plug in, it's a fun piece to have, I've used it on practically every instrument. In plugin world I actually like the Xln drumshaper better than the SPL.

When trying it as a plug-in host I’ve had some PT crashes, so didn’t really pursue that, will have to try the update.

I’m more interested in splits and crossovers and chains and general utility vs the plugin host.

I just got a Cole Clark acoustic for live use.
Just wow .... it is THE best plugged in acoustic guitar sound I have ever heard. Sounds almost the same as my Martin D18 miced up!
It used three different pick ups for it's pick up system (piezzo, face sensor and internal mic) the dynamics are incredible, beautifully built from Australian native woods and even has a plec'd set up so it plays like a dream out of the box so to speak.
Highly recommended - I'm blown away with this new Cole Clark electro-acoustic.

I’ve got a 4 channel at the studio I use a lot for drums but also works great on upright bass or vocals that have too much room in them. Apparently the 2 channel version sounds different. From SPL: The TD2 and TD4 are not identical products... and can not be; internal structures are different with 2 and 4 channels. TD2 has unbalanced I/Os, TD4 I/Os are balanced. Depending on connected units, this can result in different output levels. Anyway, usually you should be able to compensate for (Insert trimming ...?)? TD4 is tuned a bit differently; my colleagues from engineering say it sounds better than TD2. Hope you agree!

I don't think they want us to know what it is either ;-) In the transducer family, it has to be "something," if you know what I mean. Microphone, piezo crystal, magnetic pickup, etc. Likely one of the first two, but who can say, (not me, apparently.)

It’s definitely not like my Martin D18 in that respect. But plugged in it’s utterly spectacular. I mean in the shop I tried Martins and Taylors with standard piezo pickups even one with an LR Baggs and in comparison they founded tiny and artificial compared to the Cole Clark. Cole Clark set about building a guitar around the pick up system and imho it’s been a brilliant success. I wanted something specifically for live use plugged in so the unplugged acoustic sound isn’t of interest to me. Cole Clark have definitely imho perfect the concept of plugging in an electro acoustic guitar into a PA and the result sounding like a Martin miced up in a studio. Apparently Taylor wanted to license the patent and use the pick up system in Taylor acoustics and Cole Clark refused!. Unusual native Australian woods - mine is Silky Oak it looks flippin gorgeous too - as you can tell I’ve become a Cole Clark fan

I used one of these for an operatic vocal session once. It was really robust sounding on my voice. Really nice.

I even had them make me a custom model once called “The Smithee”. If you love the ColeClarks you should also try the Australian Maton series as well.

Yes, Neil Finn uses Maton. Buying this basic model Cole Clark was expensive for me so I think I’m set for a while …. no more guitars
