You didn’t see his review of the quadreverb in the “Journal of Former CIA Analysts who now Teach Political Science”?

Little budget lap steel. I have wanted to learn forever. Really excited to put some time into it. Off topic alert, but impressed to see Martin Gurri's 'The Revolt of the Public' on the organ-shelf. Quite the book. Heh, I haven’t actually read it. My good buddy (who has done the artwork for most of the music I’ve put out) did the artwork and design for all of those Stripe Press books. He sent them to me a couple of years ago but I was in school for the last four years and didn’t have time for anything else. I’ll read them at some point.

I wonder if he still uses his Quadreverb? Sure do! I have heavy nostalgia for some of the sounds on there. I used to snatch one out of the sound booth at my parents’ church in order to do mix downs from my cassette 4-track (I’d put it back after of course) and a couple of patches make me immediately feel 18 years old. But, nostalgia aside, I also really like the delay and modulation on the QV. I snagged this one off Craigslist for like $35.

The book is also remarkable at describing our present cultural moment, I read it back in March. Hats off to your man for the really beautiful work.

He is a really talented dude who has had an awesome career in design.

Churches were great for starting peoples passion of music ( and possibly killing them). i remember when they got rid of some gear, as they always seem to do upgrades every so many years, i still have the quadreverb Q2. Never used it but its still sitting in a box downstairs. I liked the digitech studio quad better. That was a beast it got a lot of use before i sold that for a lexicon mpx550 and then plug ins sort of took over. Thanks for the photo Ragan - good memories.

Buddy was selling his Distressor at a fair price and I traded my second one off for a guitar several months back. Happy to have a pair again, although financially not ideal haha.

Got tipped off that this had been lying dormant in a smalltown pawn shop for about a year or more. They seemed glad that someone actually wanted it.

Snagged an ADR Scamp S01 compressor off eBay. Now if my buddy would just send me that rack I traded him a bass for that I mailed to him 6 months ago…

Not sure anyone here is going to get any gear lust from this, but I just ordered a custom built flugelhorn from trumpet guru Tony Scodwell. It’s built around an old Reynolds bell from the 60’s that was a copy of the classic French bells. Also has horizontal slides rather than vertical which is way more comfortable to play. Should sound killer, and be a blast to record!
