More parts to try and get a few channels of the Auditronics console working...definitely scratching my head trying to find the culprit. I might have to have a FaceTime session with a tech to help me track down what’s going on.
Also grabbed a Crowther Hotcake V2. I haven’t plugged in an electric guitar in awhile but I’ve probably owned the original 3 different times and wanted to try this new version and got it at a great price

Two Phoenix gyrator eqs with 40hz hpf (a zen pro audio mod - changes it from the standard 80hz hpf) Anyway - these eqs are sweet, sweet, sweet. Versatile - can use it on almost anything. (Not sure what I cannot yet.) Great Phoenix people - (not in Phoenix, AZ - but apparently in California) - if you are reading this, please consider making the 40hz hpf standard).

My Audioscape 76a showed up , super cold from the truck, -29 here today,, let it warm up in the sun upstairs in my living room.
Put it in the rack and fired it up a few hours later.
Boy their gear just says, looks and sounds like classic quality, you know ?
Very pleased!
Weigh tank 72 is built and burned in should ship Monday, can’t wait !

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. Hey Vincent, thanks for your words. i did plug it in this weekend and gave it a quick test. I was actually very surprised by how quiet it was. The Jensen transformer certainly added a little weight to the sound which was very pleasant. Way less weight to the sound then the Bock 251 transformer/capsule combo. I think i prefer the Jensen to the original Haufe I tried it with a neve style pre and thought the top end was just a bit sharp for my vocals so i ran it through the WT72 preamp and it matched a lot better with it also going through the Vcomp. it will be interesting to try swapping out the tubes. i would love to try this mic on a female vocal. I dont seem to get a sustained amount of time to spend playing with the gear. So after my next 2x big mic purchases, i am going to hold off buying more stuff and spend the time playing with it. i do have some time coming up to do recording with some friends. Hopefully i should have something to show for my efforts mid year. Though the wife is talking about Rebuilding so who really knows what is going to happen this year. i guess time is precious so i will need to account for it with more attention this year. there you go. Goal 1 for 2021. - Account more for my time spent . Cheers

Picked up a couple plug-ins at the end of the month using expiring vouchers, PA's Bettermaker EQ232D and Nugen Stereoplacer.

I got a couple of Triad A-67J transformers, and the Bettermaker EQ plugin. EDIT: whoops, there's a Strymon Volante over there now too, haha!
Going to build one of those "color boxes" with the transformers sticking out of it. Probably a switch between 150 and 600 ohms, and a -15 dB pad so I can drive them more.

Supro Blues King 12 that I ordered during Sweetwater’s black friday sale was backordered. It came today. Of course I don’t need it but that’s never stopped anyone. I had considered canceling this when it got backordered. I should have. Now I have to box it up and take to Fedex so it can go back. I don’t care for this amp at all. The higher end Supros are supposed to be nice. If I have to use my pedalboard to get a good sound out of it, I don’t need it.

It might sound funny but from the online demonstrations, I could tell it wasn't the right amp for me. I am a Supro fan though, I have a few of the guitars. They are not "as good" as my vintage Supro, but they are decent guitars.

Just dropped a grand on bulk cabling from MArkertek Wiring = the lifeblood of gear. Without it.....it's only pretty lights. . The beauty of a huge wiring bill is the large amount of gear you can hook up with it!!! I figure most studio's probably have $15-40k of wiring. Depends on the length of the runs of course. Have fun sniffing solder fumes Ward!!

Oops! I have only $15-$40 worth of wiring. OK, I exaggerate the wiring costs for running howie Sound Studios® (more like $120 - $160). I won't even go into the value of 9Volt wall warts and a surge protector - or two - the costs do add up.

Weird, I love the thing, gain all the way up, master at noon, roll up my guitar volume until it's 'clean with a light touch.' The dirt switches are fairly useless but that wasn't the point of the single 12AX7 > single 6L6 amp for me. I only play it at the end of it's headroom so it's got nothing left to give when I dig in... you know, Supro

I bought a Boss RDD-20 Micro Rack digital delay. Not even sure why! It does look cool and it looks like a useful toy. We’ll see...

Just an update over here.. The SB really is blowing me away. I'm re-amping vocals through one channel in the N mode for color and it simultaneously tightens the low mids in such a musical way I no longer need to use pro-MB to tame the low mid/boomy area. From there pushing the presence with the EQ brings it right out in front of the mix with minimal harshness..... Badass

It doesn't lat forever unless you get good stuff, which is all I'm buying these days.

People laughed and said I was crazy when I mentioned that I had $50k in cabling in my new studio. Like you, I'm only buying high end stuff these days. Well, not SUPER high end - just quality. Mogami everywhere. Have fun soldering!!!

The Little Labs Monotor - I moved into an Apollo X16 and then realized I needed a headphone amp for monitoring. I wasn't sure I needed all the features the Monotor had but I have other Little Labs products that have served me well. The ability to check mono L&R and flip L/R has become indispensable for me. I've heard mixing/mastering engineers love this thing too

home studio time :
picked up a Metric Halo ULn-2 , Lexicon pcm70 v2 , old api 550 , chop shop & a utc a-11 transformer.
sold a bunch of stuff off in the past few months and sent a couple of bits to a tech too but that's a whole other topic..
