What's the difference in the Harrison GR EQ and the GR EQ - I mean circuit wise

It lets you insert the EQ output before the output transformer! Am I going to be missing anything by not pairing my GR EQ with their pre? I mean, the EQ is loaded with transformers as well, right? And I've got some RTZ pre's that are of similar flavor.

I'm not. I actually don't own the pre yet. I have used it a few times and it is wonderful. I will probably buy the 2 channel at some point. But I really love the eq's so I may grab another pair before the pres. Everything Great River rules. Great River is gear for making serious records for decades.

What's the difference in the Harrison GR EQ and the GR EQ - I mean circuit wise They are totally different. The Harrison's are nice eq's that are designed around the eq in the Harriosn consoles. IC based design. The Eq NV to my knowledge is a nood to the vintage Neve stuff but with Dan Kennedy's opamp design (something very special), more robust and less of the problematic bloat of the vintage neve stuff. It still has inductors and killer transformers. DK fixed (IMO) some of the problems of the vintage stuff. So, they sound more like a vintage neve eq with a modern day design. I don't mean that they sound like the current Rupert Neve designs stuff. The Eq 2NV's have the size, vibe and tone of vintage, with better features & mechanics. If I could have only one eq the Eq 2NV would be a easy choice. Maybe I could get DK to try come here and explain better then me?

Finally got all my newest stuff wired up to the patchbays (one Redco order and 36 cables later). Man, I really dig this Orban 622b! It was re-capped and all the pots were cleaned right before I bought it and it sounds lovely! I also patched in 4 channels of EQ from the RAMSA 4412 I got for $50 and I really dig those EQs too. Very solid sounding.
I just really like analog EQ I guess

Just received a new USB 3.0 cable, and an RGO t-shirt in heather grey. Looks snazzy.
I think the next actual gear I'll get is probably going to be a Bogner Uberschall distortion pedal.
Really just wanted to advertise for the T-shirt.

The latest gear I aquired was a 1959 Gibson J-200 and an Antelope Orion 32. The J-200 was about a month before my housing problem started and the Orion was right about the time it hit, using money already budgeted, because I figured that would be the last chance I'd have to upgrade my converters for awhile (looks like I was right) and my old converters were both obsolete and dying, and made by a defunct company.
Have not had a chance to get the Orion hooked up yet, as we've been taking the studio apart, not putting it together and I'll need to upgrade the OS in the studio computer to install the Antelope drivers.
The J-200 is lovely.

The Scope is a LG, I almost bought one locally but found a version with the signal generator on eBay for $30 less shipped, it's the OS 5020G. The Solder vacuume was $130 referb, none of this is top of the line but should work fine for me. Next I want a Distortion analyizer, If I had the cash I would Grab an AP, but I just can't justify it for what I do!

Good one Jesse. You had me searching too. I mean, why should use my ears when I could get some cool gear that could listen for me?

I just grabbed a few cheap dynamic mics that are Hi-z to try out with my ID DI. I also got a APhex 651. I have three 661's that I have modded highly and love. I wanted to see how much different the 651 is and if it is maybe even better?
I have more compressors then a person needs. Ah, the good life.

Hey I got this great distortion pedal. This one and the Turbo Rat are my favorites right now. With the Agile les paul, the 4x12 cabinet, and Selmer amp head, the harmonics are shimmering off the guitar strings, bristling with energy and acoustic feedback. Even at moderate volume. Very expressive new voice for me. Coming from open back combos and milder distortions this is very different and inspiring. Suddenly, lead guitar sounds "right" to my ears, and I'm writing riffier songs. This rig was about 2 months in the making for me and it turned out even better than I expected. Hell yeah!

jcoutu1 I'm glad you "liked" that because hearing your recording a short time back was sort of a crucial moment for me in this tone chasing I've been wrapped up in. Surprisingly, I got pretty close to the sound that was in my head, and in your track. It's hard to say what the biggest factor is in the whole rig, but the big 4x12 closed back cabinet seems to be the most obvious element that contributes to this signature sound. Second place would be a tie between the guitar, and the amp/pedals. Do not be afraid of the 4x12, my friends. Haha. I can't believe it took me this long to try one.

I played a Hiwatt DR103 through a 4x12 for years. Sounded so great opened up....as long as you were standing 600 feet away....

I've been buying and selling a lot over the last few months, although I haven't had a chance to play with any of the new toys yet, let alone build the DIY kits. Here's what I've acquired recently:
Neumann U47 fet Collector's Edition
CAPI VP28-Litz kits x17 CAPI VPR Rack kit x2 These haven't arrived yet, but I'm going to have my work cut out building them when they do. They're going to be part of my mobile rig, used predominately for recording drums in different places.
AML ez2254 kit pair
Bloo LA-2A kit I think I managed to procure the only NOS Bloo LA-2A kit in existence. I already have one with Sowters that I bought pre-assembled 10 years ago, but this one is going to have NOS UTCs and a NOS T4B instead. I'm going to let my tech build it for me though.
Dave Hill Designs Titan pair I sold my beloved STC-8 – which I've had for 16 years – to buy the Titans. I wanted something easier to recall, and this was a more cost effective option than upgrading the STC-8 to the mastering version. I also think the various colour controls on the Titans will make them more versatile than the STC-8.
DSI Sequential Prophet 6 keyboard I spent several hours comparing this to the OB-6 in the store, and decided I prefer the Prophet 6.
Roland RE-201 Space Echo I've always wanted to compare one of these to my RE-301 Chorus Echo, although the RE-201 will need a tune up first. Unless there's a clear winner, I might keep both.
