I'm looking into picking up a couple mic splitters, basically to split 24 stage mics to a second mixer for recording. 24 channels to FOH and 24 to my recording console. The Art S8 seems to be the best bang for the buck. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Split8Anyone used these or have different recommendations? Can I run these splitters into a pair of snakes? Issues with 75' cable runs? Any other potential issues with my plan?

Just buy a the 24 raw transformers from Jenson and wire them into a rack case. 1 4u 48 channel male xlr front panel and 1 24 channel female xlr rear panel. That's the cheapest way to do it and get it exactly the way you want. No reason to go active with just a 2 way split. The direct line goes to the recording and provides 48v, the transformer split goes to FOH.
It will take some time, not sure if you have a time limit to completion.

We're getting to the point a digital distro can be a better/cheaper option, depending on hardware already in use. Consider Dante and AVB options too.
Even Jensens won't solve certain really problematic connections. Cheaper options work fine for most situations. Many situations get away with passive splits fine too. Consider even the direct line gets the sonic imprint of the inductive load of whatever transformer is used. Is it a problem? That could be argued all day long.
I'd do real world experiments, especially if it's a fixed install that will vary little/none.

Jensen , Crimson or Lundahal are the way to go, With many of the cheap boxes you will find you have no headroom. Also go with a 3 way split , you will find the extra will make it far more useful !

Even Jensen is +2 max level @ 20 Hz, on par with most of what's out there, until you spend $154/ea on the 3 way split transformers with +11. Some condensers will clip both of those if bass content is low and loud enough, but still rarely.

I was thinking about getting a couple of the Art splitters too, for the same purpose as you.... let us know if you end up getting them.

Look for a used splitter system.
