3 time yesterday, I thought my MOTU 16A had stopped working...
Once the mixer was powered off....
Twice the monitors were powered off.....

You know, I've been here before, thinking my Motu wasn't working. Had similar thoughts about my Hackintosh when strange things would happen. I never could be sure. It's interesting to me to think why I initially assume its the Motu not working? There must be some assumption in the back of my mind that doesn't fully trust this piece for me to default to blaming the Motu? It's true, that for me, the Motu still doesn't work over thunderbolt. Maybe that's why. I dunno. To be fair, though, I think there may be something with my particular Mac Mini that the Motu driver doesn't like over thunderbolt. Some software or setting or something. I can run Motu TB just fine on my Macbook Pro. But, my Apollo was rock solid over TB on my Mac Mini, so there's that.
I hate that feeling that I can't trust a piece of gear, especially when it's the beating heart of my rig. I need to fully trust it.
Sorry for the digression.

I get the bass wrong when I can't hear it. The last house my home studio was in was the worst acoustically. I had a huge open room in the ground floor you'd call a basement if it were excavated. But the bass was uneven, I had to go to my autos for any reference. My new studio/garage is already much better, and I haven't treated anything yet.

I am sire it was not the room I think my cat walked over the console before printing and I switched off the monitors and did send it away without checking.... it makes sense.... lesson ... double check before sending the files away...

My fave was a Famous rock star who will remain nameless calling in a panic at 3 AM because his new favorite new rack toy was DOA " did you check the power switch? "
"Dude there is no power switch !!!!"
"Yeah , it's on the back."
"Well fuck, sorry man!"
He was afraid my wife was going to try to kill him the next time he came to town, but a very expensive night of food and drink at his expense made up for it, and I promised to never say who he is!

Funny you should say this; coincidentally I went into the studio this morning to get some work done and my motu wouldn't turn on. After unhooking it from the patchbays and a quick run to Radio Shack it turned out to be a dead fuse. Whew. Oh the panic i felt. What a waste of 4 fucking hours though.

Well the whole thing took that long. I procastinated removing the hood off the motu. About 40 screws holding it on. The fuse at first looked fine. Not to mention its in the midd l e of a jumbled bunch of pstchbays. Radio shack is fortanately 5 minutes away.

Fuses don't normally blow without reason, do they?

No. Which is worrying. To add; other than one time two weeks prior it had trouble keeping at 96k and then all channels blasted noise there was zero sign of anything wrong. It just wouldn't power up. The fuse that was in there also was the correct rating.

Granted, the Motu sounds pretty fantastic.

Motu have seemed to have stepped up their game (their customer support was the pits at one time) and i look forward to owning a 16a. But until they are seamlessly compatible with Windows im sticking with my trusty pci-e connection.
