Posted this after "liking", "This is a great place for musicians and audio engineers to learn and to share their experiences. It's like Gearslutz for adults, a no troll zone, with some cool cats participating. Take a minute to have a look, I think my musician friends will find it interesting and helpful"

I wouldn't touch Facebook with a ten-foot pole, so I can't do it. However, I've been talking to people directly and invited them to the site.

Seeing the title, "Membership Drive" gave me a flashback nightmare from my former job. I used to be a recording and broadcast engineer for Minnesota Public Radio. It was a great gig for the most part, recording and live broadcasts of orchestras, and all manner of styles from bluegrass and jazz to indie rock. 3 or 4 times a year, we would hold the airwaves hostage for over a week to pry money out of our listeners to meet million dollar goals. I certainly don't miss that part of the job.
Anyway, I'll do what I can to promote the site. Just don't make me go on air and beg for money.

I have a feeling that at some point - you won't have much of a problem attracting a crowd from "The other Forum"
Today I posted a comment in a thread on "the other forum", checked back in a while - and my comment was deleted. I got a message later on from a user called. 'System' who informed me that it had been deleted due to 'inappropriate language'! I re-read my comment about 10 times and could not find any inappropriate words. To make things worse, apparently I have an infraction against me!

I don't bother posting there anymore.

I know three prominent posters over there that have chosen not to come over here. The ego is a funny thing.

Although - i think I noticed something interesting about what happened.
It seems like it was ok for someone else to call me a 'dick' with no consequence , but my post (that had no offensive language, was removed due to 'inappropriate language'
This might sound a little bit to 'conspiricy theory ' - but I think my comment was deleted because I criticized a particular brand.
It's the most common problem in the world - you need advertisers to make money. But keeping advertisers happy is sometimes a conflict of interest, because it interfers with the ability to be able to have certain things said about them

I know three prominent posters over there that have chosen not to come over here. The ego is a funny thing. I'm curious why anyone would hesitate to join in here. Im pretty sure i know the reason why at least one of the constants over there won't join here, i think it's because of ME being the moderator in the diy forum, i dared to have a couple disagreements with him, and when i didn't stand idly by and eat his condescension, he got really upset, like a school girl..seriously. I think he seriously needs to see a DR to overcome his adolescent insecurity. I know i tended to be a smart ass over there, i slowly figured out that it didn't translate well, i try not to do that here, and i think i'm pretty decent about that now, we have a respectful community here, Cowboy said, "there's no big I's and little u's here, nicely said. I do think we need some more members, but not if it compromises decency and respect. here's a link to one of the problems, www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/847053-rack-rails-metal-wood.html i was trying to be helpful stressing safety, i've done quite a bit of electronics work, and i'm a custom building contractor, i've built countless projects dealing with 3 phase electrical configurations in commercial building to custom interior pieces with all kinds of exotic woods, this guy has never done a diy project in his life, I tried to disarm his fragile ego with a compliment, but it didn't work, his condescension is palpable, and i didn't like it, he does it constantly, and i wouldn't dig it if it was here either. There was another thread that i can't find called "pro's forum", where these pretentious egomaniacs were crying about how they were being trolled and condescended too, even though they obliviously and constantly, egged it on them selves??? they were demanding how they needed a pro's forum on gearslutz or else, i tried to tell them they sounded pussies in the most respectful way i could, most of the guys got what i was saying, but once again, Dr candy glass flipped the F out! Ironically, these thin skinned types just don't get that no one likes to be thumbed down upon, it's especially nonsensical in a totally subjective environment?? Then the Tony Belmont thing was the straw that broke the camels back, and what ultimately led to my being banned, what an astonishingly vapid, self serving fucking shill that dude is! railing against the capi stuff, and he's never even used it??? I was in the middle of calling him out, and defending what i know to be true about the Vp 28, when my screen went "banned", honestly, i would have punched that dude in the face if i could have, fuck those guys, they make me ill, we are better off without them. We should be careful about the way our awesome site grows IMV JK, if this post is too much, or if you think it will hurt the cause, feel free to delete it. I won't mention it again either way thanx T

Yeah, in this subjective business, for me when people claim things in an over confident way there's a limit when I stop listening. That combined with the number of posts, promoting the company with the logo, and being a moderator... Pretty tasteless imo. TL is far more low key in that sense, and a really nice guy.
