I've researched this online and tried some of the solutions...but why are my dishes coming out smelling like a damn wet dog? Doesn't happen every time...I've tried adjusting the "U" trap, etc...Any ideas?

Have you taken things apart from the underside and just made certain they are clean ? I mean the drain pipe mechanism. They have rubber internal flaps and they can get pretty gunky. I pulled my out a few weeks ago and flipped it over on its side, found a main power plastic connector and un did that. Then I just looked at how the drain parts were connected and took cell phones pics, then took each part out and cleaned it thoroughly, put it al back together and ran an empty dishwasher on long cycle with extra heat, extra soap and white vinegar.

Thanks, guys! I'm gonna try the "wash all egg residue off"...supposedly that's what's causing the wet dog smell.

There is a thing called dishwasher cleaner, try running it once a month or so.
