Just a thought spock and @rsteiger and others... maybe a 40 - 50% discount on list for Pro Users here? I have heard (wink wink) that some of us have these direct arrangements with some suppliers (nudge nudge).

I have heard (wink wink) that some of us have these direct arrangements with some suppliers (nudge nudge). I wonder if their margins are even that good.. I'd hate to ask them to take losses, especially since there are quite a few folks on here with some decent recording pedigree that would certainly be considered "pro". However, there is also a line that needs to be drawn, and it's always the folks just below the line that get jilted.. But where do you draw the line? As of this year, I'm averaging around 7 larger A/V projects a year (with some small projects sprinkled in) and I get paid for all of them, but I wouldn't dare consider myself "pro", and it's not my main job either, so which side of the line would I fall on? Personally, I don't think Jeff's prices are all that high anyway. I'd just prefer him to offer more piecemeal kits since I tend to have most of the resistors/caps/diodes, etc, already. That way I could still save money yet pay what he needs to make a profit..

Yes, and while we're at it, let's make these discounts retroactive!

I agree with svart here, also JS's stuff is priced super low to begin with, and he offers discounts for multiples, i took advantage of that when i bought 4 vp28's and 4 Lc53eq's and a bunch of opamps at the same time....

Requires $1000 donation to RGO. A lot of my purchases would make that economically feasible!

The fact that the manufacturers mentioned support this sight is in some respect a discount. In the case of Chandler, offering us a Discount would be undercutting their dealers who have supported Chandler and their dealers who indirectly support this site. Look we all like a deal, and In the case of CAPI Jeff's prices are one of the best bargains in the world of pro audio. In the case of Chandler and most others if you as a consumer work the phone deals can be had, but remember, every penny you save is coming out of somebody's pocket and how do you feel when somebody wants a deal just because!

I don't want to pay one penny more for Jeff's stuff. But then I also don't want to pay one penny less either. I already think the CAPI stuff is totally kick ass and the price just makes it a homerun. Jeff's prices are more than fair and I want him to keep charging whatever he is comfortable with and whatever keeps him in business so that he can continue to give us top notch and unique gear.
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't see a need for CAPI gear to be any cheaper and I have a hard time seeing how it could be much cheaper anyway.

I have actually not offered discounts in a number of years T. I only do it now when someone buys 20 or more of the same kit. Not trying to be a PITA but I don't want folks to think there is a backdoor deal to be had.

Discounts are typically marketing tools to make the consumer feel like they are getting a special deal, effectively stroking egos. I think Jeff doesn't need to discount anything, as his prices are already super low considering his competition. I'd much rather have all-around lower prices, than spotty discounts.
Same goes for rebates. HATE THEM. Their whole purpose is to convince people to buy now under the promise that they'll get money back.. While the companies know very well that a significant amount of folks won't end up sending in the rebate information, and the company gets to keep the cash they were promising to send back. Just give me slightly lower prices and forget the stupid rebate stuff already!

Yes on some certain things but not the larger main module kits.
