I was thinking about maybe doing some kind of giveaway/raffle to raise some funds for the monthly fees on the site...but it looks like online "raffles" (pay $5 to enter a raffle for something like a $100 Sweetwater giftcard) is illegal. Anybody have any ideas? I am always inclined to throw $5 a month or something towards an office-pool type thing...Just a thought.

I've known small sites that did giveaways--sponsored by the manufacturers. Usually they traded gear for ads and the publicity/discussion. Increased traffic FROM the giveaways mean you can charge more for other ads...

A raffle would effectively limit participation to the US, though. I guess shipping an item to a winner overseas is more expensive than whatever you get out of it.

Blame that on that big stretch of water, steamships need time...

Off topic, but I'm probably not the only one that simply miss that Donate button that is down there all the time. I don't use to participate in giveaways, but if someone reminds me that they need a little support to run a place where I like to hang out, I do that. I just put $3/monthly. I know it's nothing but I guess if a few more would do the same it could do some good, or?
