Hey fellas - Anyone have an opinion on these Monoprice 18" patch cables? www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10244&cs_id=1024406&p_id=4791&seq=1&format=2I'm gonna need more than 10, so they're going to be around $3 per cable. I can't even build them that cheap. Here's what I plan on using them for - I'm going to use them to run signal from my Motu 16a to my Samson S-Patch patchbays. If I mount my patchbays near my 16a, then the 18" length will be fine. So, given that I won't be plugging/unplugging these in and out, I don't have a great concern for their durability. I should just go with a tt patchbay setup, but damn, that's expensive to get into. My only question with these monoprice cables are sonics. I mean, these will be passing all of my audio. I don't want to get into the whole audiophile cable thing, but I'm working under the assumption that wire is wire, and as long as it's making a connection then it can't sound any different than Mogami stuff, right?

Those are probably fine.
I bought my TT patchbay and cables from Ebay, used. I got the patchbays for less than 50$ each, and usually found handfuls of used cables for cheap as well.

we have 2 motu 16a's and about 10 samson s-patch plus patch bays down at our studio, we also use those monoprice patch cables among some others we have. they work just fine. You might get some bad cables if you order a bunch, just test them all before wiring up your bay.
If you're not willing to spend the money on premium cables then the mono price stuff seems like a decent compromise.
I do believe that cabling makes a difference, but I think you have to make the investment in your entire chain, not just patch cables. I hope to rewire the studio at some point, once it's financially feasible.

I bought some monoprice cables for a TRS patch bay..... these were snake cables with XLR and TRS ends. I think they're great for the price.... and the connectors on mine are a very close copy of neutrik. I doubt you can go wrong for the money. On the other hand, I'm getting rid of all of my TRS stuff since I now have a TT bay.... send me a PM if you're interested (it's mostly neutrik and amphenol connectors with mogami or canare wire).

Based on a review here, I bought 4 sets of Monoprice headphones. I am honestly blown away that $20 headphones can sound this good! So, I can't imagine the pacth cables being bad. I'll pop by their booth at NAMM tomorrow and see...

I'm thinking these cables plus 2 or 3 S-Patch plus's (100 bones at Front End Audio this weekend) will get me where I need to go for the best price/quality ratio.

Monoprice cables are very good. I use them all over the place.
