Gary Loizzo, one of my studio mentors passed away Saturday the 16th 2016 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 70. Gary was a prince of a man, a great engineer and a bit of a Chicago legend. He spent the last few decades on the road with Styx mixing FOH. Gary started out in the '60's as lead singer for the band American Breed. They had a top 5 single with Bend Me, Shape Me. He went on to open Pumpkin Studios where he recorded nearly all of the Styx records. He also worked with REO back in the day. Gary was always smiling, laughing and more than willing to share any trade tips or secrets that he had learned or developed over the years. I need to retrain myself to refer to a kick track or drum as "foot" in his honor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_LoizzoThis was his last show with Styx in September a few weeks after his 70th birthday. RIP my friend

Sorry for the loss of your great mentor Jeff. Those Styx albums were so greatly engineered and produced. You were very fortunate to be under the wing of such a talented person.
RIP.....

Thanks for sharing Gary's story, Jeff. Interesting and inspiring. Lot of death lately in our business.

Jeff It's always hard when those who help shape who we are pass, we must take the time to remember they live on through us and those who we help shape. Best wishes and prayers Eric
