Nice... but 'recovery' is not 'release'! Release is the time at which you tell the compression cell or circuit to let go of the signal, recovery is the time where the compression/GR circuit actually stops functioning when it burns through its half-lives. UGH

It's freaking fantastic. This is a really nice review. Late in the video I think he said something like, "...fast attack..." And then turned it fully clockwise...but that's the slowest attack. It goes from left to right fastest to slowest. I'm going to sit down and write a review at some point for the review section. I'll include this video and then try and add some more info that covers anything he missed.

So tired of hearing "It was used at Abbey Road by the Beatles" Maybe I can sell retro toilet seats. I know the Beatles had to use the bathroom.

Lol. Didn't McBride have to have the exact ones or something?
Btw - the 124 is euphonic and drippy deluxe...so might not be first call for really pop tracks. Ok...I'm just reaching for something bad to say now.

I think I remember Chad Cromwell talking about McBride having him audition a bunch of different tea towels and ended up with the real ones or something.

John is one person I wouldn't argue with about anything. If he chose a particular brand of tea towel, I would consider it a definitive recommendation.

Anyone know the brand? I'm actually about to do some drum tracking where I may do some tea towel stuff.
Or is it a closely guarded secret....

I'm pretty sure that the "tea towels" that McBride bought were from a clothing store in Nashville called Two Old Hippies. They happened to have blackbirds on them, so he ordered hundreds.
But, I'm sure he has some original Abbey Road tea towels somewhere...

Here's a song I'm working on with the RS124 on all vocals and bass. REALLY happy with both.

Mic? EMI really locked down that vocal. Can't hear the bass though. I'm on my macbook air. Nothing below 500Hz LOL

Shannon Rhoades modded CV3. Has his edge terminated ck12 in it - which was a different direction from the center term that was in there. Might have him take a tiny bit of top out. Anyway, this was through a 1073-->RS124-->Svartbox-->UAD 1176. HPF with Pro-Q2 at around 100Hz, then dug out a little beefiness in the low mids and a little 800-1khz.

Songs good, but I don't like listening to the vocals. Open up the vocals, they sound pinched and dry, EQ out some mid highs, ad some verb and raise the volume. Spread and raise volume of GBs Compress bass, add low end, and raise volume Add some low end to the kick Lower piano a bit. YMO
