I think the small ice rink is helping Montreal's game, they're faster skaters making it easier for them to bottle up Boston's attack.

Usually a bigger rink benefits a speedy team. it's definitely smaller than regulation, and the corners are much shallower. A smaller rink allows the faster team to close on the opposing puck carriers much more easily, it also allows a good defense to clog the neutral zone much more easily. Double edged sword but the B's are just being outplayed.
