Hey guys , I'm interested in getting a Peterson BodyBeat Pulsating Metronome and having it controlled by Pro Tools using MIDI . Has anyone done this before ??
I'm using PT 7.4 on a PC .
I NEVER use MIDI so I have no clue on hooking this up . Their website says it works with DAWS.....but Pro Tools LE and its restrictive NAZI ways always makes me cautious .
All the manual says is :
"Receiving MIDI Clock - Connect the BodyBeat Sync to a computer using the provided mini USB cable. After the system recognizes and installs the device automatically, select USB Audio Device as the MIDI output port to transmit a MIDI clock signal. When this signal is present, the tempo setting on your Body- Beat Sync cannot be adjusted because it is under the control of your MIDI capable software."
I can't find any other info on their site .
You MIDI guys , do you think there could be a conflict with Pro Tools LE 7.4 on a PC ?

I'd be interested to know how well this works also, i have always practiced with a metronome as a necessary training tool(evil), and i have always considered them ANTI music, if i could have an effective click that i didn't need to hear or look at, that somehow became 2nd nature, i believe better music would be made as a result when having to use a click. I'm still absolutely positive i will always play better without one, subtlety slowing down and explosively speeding up intentionally is a very human and musical thing to do, a click makes a follower, not a leader, and generally has all the musical appeal of watching a clock...imo.

I agree , music is better with no click . Thats what makes bands interesting and different , the sum of a group of humans keeping time together and every band is different . Thats why I sometimes like live albums better than studio albums . The recording quality doesn't sound as good , but theres this exciting energy and the music flows better because the band is forced to play together instead of everyone overdubbing separate tracks to a click . Ok enough Hippie talk ...... I mainly want this Metronome because I have a hard time hearing the click in my headphones . My drums are just too damn loud . I put earplugs in and have some decent headphones , but still , the click gets buried . I was thinking of getting these isolation headphones , www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/IsoHdph?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=recording&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=COGU48aOlboCFepFMgodQFoAaQIt says they reduce outside volume by -24dB . But I'm already putting earplugs in that reduce I think -30 dbs . So I think my setup now is basically the same thing ?? Maybe earplugs plus the isolation headphones would work better ?? So thats why I wanna get the BodyBeat Metronome . Then I don't have to worry about hearing the click and I'll probably play WAY better . Its really expensive though , $130 !! Thats why I wanna make sure it works with PT LE before I buy it . I also read that feeling the beat with the BodyBeat and listening to a click is very effective in locking in . Its double the senses , hearing and feeling .

scum, do this and you'll never have a problem again, and you'll save your hearing! put your vic firths(the ones in your link is what i have)over these, you'll be able to keep the volume down, and hear very well...especially after when mixing with ears that still function lol! there is a thread somewhere around here with details. they work amazingly well.

I forgot about those . I don't have the Vic Firth ones , I was thinking of getting them . I could make your in ear type and then get these Safety Work Earmuffs for $20 to wear over them , www.amazon.com/3M-Peltor-H10A-Optime-Earmuff/dp/B00009LI4K/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hi_2
