The last two days / nights I helped a friends widow to clear his well equipped home-studio. He passed away out of a sudden. He just laughed with his wife and kids, eating dinner, and bang ... god took him of the planet.
I was asked to pick something for my help, but you know good friends, but she wanted me to do it. To not make a greedy impression and grabbing an LA2A, or the one and only Yardstick. I took an old TC M300. I cant sleep. I did try the unit, and I was surprised how good the reverbs are.
Anyway ... it wont give me back a wonderful friend in good and bad times, a great composer, a fairplay business man, and a great buddhist.
Just had to type something because it feels unreal. I do accept that we have to die, its just unfair if you cant say good bye.
.... Please no gear requests ... thanks.

Life is difficult at times. Sounds like you had good times with your friend and a long relationship. That's a treasure.

In deed my friend, but it in no way lessens the loss of your friend, I'm glad you are there to help the widow, I have seen way to many vultures take advantage of a situation like this and give the widow pennies.

The world would be a poor place if we do not care for friends and neighbours in difficult times. In our modern times many people forget that budhisim, but also the christian, and many other religions, are based on the idea to make yourself happy by helping others. Its may a wise idea to put the focous on the good times we had. I think he lived a good live, with ups and downs. I hope behind the door is peace, no worries, may pure love. Or simple the endless silence... a long sleep but no wake up call.

Sorry to hear this. I went through something similar 6-7 years ago when my best friend who had also been the sound engineer for many bands I had played in over the years passed away suddenly from a heart attack. We had went through a lot, after 8 years out on the circuit we both started going to church and he was still running sound there for the next 18 years.
I still miss seeing his smiling face when I look back to the board.
I didn't get a chance to say goodbye either but I've come to realize there are really no goodbyes anyways. In the end I am just happy to have known my friend.
