The Neve BCM10/2 is listed at $17,550.00 more than the API 1608 at VK. Yowza. As far as I can tell the Neve has less Channels/Aux's/Busses/FX /Returns/Bus' etc. The Neve does include the compressors, but I would think that the people who are gonna shell out this kind of cash already have stereo compressors. They must be really counting on the preamp sound blowing people away vs the 1608..

I've often said I need to get out of the music business to be able to afford it.

I say neither, I have a Yamaha PM2000 for sale with comparable headroom to an 80's series Neve, in fantastic shape for $10,000. If you're looking for a console, PM me...as good as these modern desks are, my desk was modded by the best and can easily stand toe to toe for pennies.

It's the biggest name in the industry so it can command more money. Is is better? Depends on who you talk to, what your style is, etc. There have been many amazing recordings made on a plethora of different consoles. It comes down to budget and taste. The 1608 is a fine console.
