complete with growling, the man was indeed a swagtastic beast, how could anyone expect him not to growl? The coolest thing is he makes music simply working the hi hats with his foot and nothing else, the guy oozed music, and the drum sound is just unreal. Enjoy 8)

I'm new to drumming. I am astonished at how much there is to learn/know about the hi hat alone. major zep fan in my youth. saw them in the 70's. wow. extra super wow!!!!

I started playing drums so I can do my own studio work, I can't afford a pro to come into my home studio, so I have to turn to local drummers, and local drummers have to solo every spare second it seems, it drives me ape shit. I ask for simple single kick beats and I get triplets and Lars Ulrich machine gun double bass :/

It seems like hi-hat finesse is a good barometer of general drumming accomplishment. I used to be pretty intimidated by the hi hats but now that I'm somewhat improving my skills, I suddenly feel like they are a lot more nuanced than I thought. More than just a steady "chick chick chick."

The delay on that Bonham track is so effective. I love the psychedelic snare overdub too. Such an iconic performance. Brilliant production by Jimmy Page. The yelling is hilarious! Every time I listen to John Bonham play drums I feel like I'm doing aerobic exercise. Just so propulsive. Nobody else swings like that.

That hi hat tells you exactly where his head was at. Never in a million years would I have gone that hard at that guitar riff. super creative, super skilled.

I always admired how he just used his foot on the hi hat. It's genius though because it leaves both hands free to do other things.
