I just purchased a KM54A. It's being sent off to have some rewiring done to the power supply. After that I plan on having the cathode circuit upgraded to Neumann's KM54 'C' revision. Is anyone familiar with what is required to do this and roughly the expected cost? The mic was recently serviced and the AC701 tube and nickel capsule are supposed to be in very good condition.

Congrats! Andreas Grosser mentions lower noise and 'better reliability'. To give you a rough idea, Andreas serviced my pair of KM56s and one of them was converted from A to C, and he charged one extra hour for that mic, and I believe also a couple of simple components.

I'm in Australia and have been advised to use Gunter Wagner for any specialised Neumann work. I was a little nervous about purchasing a KM54, especially from overseas, but one suddenly appeared here in Oz so I took the plunge!
