I've been working on a 67 Mercury Cougar for a few years now. Finally plunked down a good chunk of money to get the project over the next milestone. well...i bought my 3rd Ford bronco, 1974, took a 351w, ported the heads, fuel injection, a powerdyne supercharger, water injection, a 4r70w tranny out of a f250(gear set) into a proper tranny housing, staightened and tig welded the entire frame, 1965 thunderbird interior, then.......decided my audio addiction was more important right now, so i sold it.. s1082.photobucket.com/user/buckintone/library/

Wow. Nice.
My current messes are a 67 cougar. Rebuilt 289/3speed/8inch. I've replaced the floors, patched most of the rust. Now I need to replace half of the passenger's rear quarter panel due to a big wrinkle in the sheet metal I found after cleaning off 1/2" worth of bondo.
Over the last couple weekends I've been rebuilding the front end(again) but this time leaving out all the "urethane" crap that wore out faster than anything. I *was* going to do the granada disc brake swap but found a guy who sells adapter plates for old mustangs to 2005-2012 mustang gt brakes. So I've been installing takeoff front and rear brakes from a 2010 mustang.
The other mess is a 1980 mustang. This one is in storage but will need a lot of work to get it back to form. I originally built it as a racecar. 69 351W(big bearing journals), bored 40 over, main girdle, H-beam rods, custom pistons, etc. something around 500hp or so NA. Built up racing C4 tranny, built 8.8 rear with 3.73, etc. Narrow K member with wide T-bird arms, Cobra-R brakes and wheels, rollcage, etc. this one will tote the front wheels for a while. Sadly, it had to take backseat to the cougar.
I *had* another mustang that my cousin and I were going to build for weekend racing but it couldn't be titled so we parted it and scrapped it. We did get a turbo 2.3L engine for it and rebuilt it. I have a twin turbo setup for it, good for about 400hp. I've often thought about selling the 351 from the other mustang and putting in the 2.3L for the fun of it..

So one venting gripe. As I was changing the brakes over to discs, it was pretty clear the discs were thicker than the drums where they meet the hub. Going to new wheels studs was necessary.
Well.. it seems that everybody has a different opinion on what the stud "knurl diameter" should be. ARP claims to be the only source using the correct diameter of something like 0.618". Dorman and Moser have anything from 0.615" to 0.625". Some sites claim that 0.623 is correct, some say 0.625 is correct. The guy who sells the brake adapters sells the dorman 0.623 studs, so I got those.
Well.. Nope. They pressed in OK, but a little easy. Once I got everything together, I tightened the lug nuts.. And a couple of the studs started turning. So now I have to figure out how to get those apart. UGGH.
I bought the 0.625 studs now and hope that they'll press tight.

So if anybody cares, 0.625" wheel studs are the right ones for 67 cougars, and presumably the mustang too.
