Slate was going to call it the Sizzler but they could never get him out of the kitchen with the frying pan and prototype !

So basically it's a rather untweakable, yet easy to use mashup of a half dozen processing plugs - not unlike the Waves CLA plugs. It just doesn't seem like the kind of product that would interest this crowd.

It seems like Slate's reaching a point of redundancy.
I watched his demos, and yes, it sounded better post the new Slate plugin, but with all those other plugs, why would people need this?
Maybe it's kind of like the One Knob idea? The One Knob actaully did a nice job, before I learned how to get better results with other more versatile plugs.

Just try it. If it works for you that's great I actually like the CLA plugs.

The CLA 1176 on the bass preset does the trick every time. No need to waste UAD dsp.

I don't dig this thing, in the demo or in use.
It sounds like an awkward transient shaper to me. Chokes things and makes them sound snappy and small (which is actually something I think Steven likes, lots of his drum samples and presets kinda lean that direction). The first time he applies it to drums in that video I think it sounds terrible.
I'm sure it'll be just the ticket for some stuff, like metal, but that stuff is not my cup of tea.

Man, I kind've thought the same thing from the video. I've still got the free Slate stuff, so I don't want to download it and lose that...

BTW - I was talking about the CLA Signature plugs. They're pretty damn good.

Bass going DI through a modded cham labs 7602 to la2a or 1176 then cla76 for final sheen. I don't know why the modded 7602 works the best out of my 1073 clones for bass but it just does for me.

God his promo videos are so painful. I can't help but laugh as soon as he goes into his "fully analog modeled digital circuit paths". Sounds like another useless plug by him. WHERE IS THE BLUE FACE 1176? ??

I will say this, though...That two knob Hi and Lo EQ is awesome. I use it for kick and bass. Very rarely use the other plugs besides VCC. Maybe the Neve on occasion.

Slate's "free" promo of all for those who already owned some of his plugs ends in about 2 weeks. Then you will revert back to only purchased plugs being authorized.
IF you sign up for the subscription service you get all plugs back but you pay the same amount as someone who has not bought any slate plugs. Slate refuses to see any inequity in this and feels the the extended free promo of 6 months offsets this. At the end of first year of subscription you will have paid about $250 usd, you are supposed to get a large coupon redeemable at slate store so you get to buy a plug with some of your subscription fees. But if you stay on the subscription plan you pay another $250 annually for all plugs regardless of those you own.
So, if you are thinking of buying a slate plug"anyway:crunch those numbers !

I own VCC...the only one I would miss is the Hi Lo EQ thingy...The others are replaceable. Do you mean Revival? use it all the time. Rarely the low part, though. Way too much odd resonances--but, the high saturation does what you WANT to do by boosting high EQ, without boosting the highs. It's not an EQ. The lows don't diminish at all. It reminds me of BBE units functionally--only with more of a passive Pultec euphony.... It is by FAR the most used Slate plug here. But, then I own and use VTM and VCC. I own FXG, but that was honestly something I used for clients who were worried about what something would sound like plastered--I think it's a great plug in for doing that, I just have no interest in doing that to my own work. Working on client mixes I used VCC and VTM ALL the time. They were integral digital vaseline on the lens. I am perfectly happy with my lenses. In fact, when I say I use revival "all the time"--I really mean when I call up a 44.1 VI....it opens the top in a way that EQ doesn't. EQ sounds EQd. That saturation sounds more just naturally open without sounding EQ'd even at EXTREME settings. Also when I bring a track over from the 48khz Kronos--same deal, drive the highs with Revival in the 88.2 session....kinda of removes that 48khz mask from the top.
