I had two different AG parts panned and sent to an aux. slapped Fabfilter eq2 on the group (stereo) and was just pulling up the top end - and man, it started canceling out the bottom big time. Major phase issue. I though linear settings was to avoid this. What am I missing?

linear phase eq's are for eliminating amplitude shifts to freq's adjacent to your chosen center frequency, that are normally affected by boosting and cutting with traditional eq's, if you have 2 guitars that are panned any less than hard left and hard right, or are collapsed to mono, they will be susceptible to phase issues as always whether you use a linear phase eq or not. hope that makes sense 8)

For low Q stuff like shelving or very specific stuff like notching, parallel use of a minimum phase EQ is basically fine.
I mean a high shelf is just a high pass filter added back to the dry signal anyway.

Here's a much better explanation than I offered. 12 mins in probably explains ur issue with the bottom?

So you sent it to an aux, and mixed it back in with the original signal?

I recorded two separate acoustic tracks and then was EQing them on a bus track. Which now that I think of it...that would cause problems I guess. But it didn't seem to be a problem when I used the UAD pultec - the bottom didn't vanish like it did with the Fabfilter. Maybe I can post a vid.
