It's a downward spiral, and no one knows how to stop it, until it's dead. I think it's related to political correctness. Toss more than a few key words out, drawl like you've never set foot out of a swamp, and you'll catch a break, and gain access to a large group of music consumers. Of course the music business is just using these artists, but they're so desperate, they don't give a shit anymore. I take that back, musicians who produce crap like this don't deserve to called artists. Artists must risk something.
I hope it's like the pathetic hair bands in the 80's, they thought they were so hot, now they're long gone, and a laughing stock, maybe well off, but laughable nonetheless.

Sadly, they wouldn't be making stuff like this if people weren't buying it. Kinda reminds me of uneducated voters.

He's appearing with Tim McGraw on Nov 2nd at the Saddledome in Calgary. Looks like a re-schedule of a summer date.
I don't understand, when did being a young man or woman from the South come to mean something so shallow and fake? This is not "country" as I understand it. Half of my family is from rural Kentucky and no one is like this in any way. If anything, they are profoundly religious, much more so than city boys like me. And they are educated, volunteering, and deeply care for their neighbors and community.
Gilbert's music - this song at least - is a lie. Maybe that's why it is so offensive. It's a damn lie, and sells short Southerners and all rural people everywhere.

Performers hype themselves and bullshit all the time in rap music, this kind of "country" isn't much different.

A little of topic,
Listened to some tracks of the milk carton kids. Pretty impressive stuff. Listen to Michigan. Great harmonies. Something different. Reminds me of S&G.

I'm really glad this sort of crap 'country' music hasn't caught on over here. Maybe it's a culture thing, but that stuff is just not popular here. Then again, we got tons of our own crap to deal with. But I'm glad I can still find lots of good, inspiring songs today. It's not on the radio, not in the charts and not on YouTube, but it's out there, you just have to look for it.

This is more like it. Certainly, this is a bit esoteric, but if just SOME country would aspire to this level.

I just watched this, and couldn't stop from posting it here, when i was a little kid, people used to laugh at the BeeGee's in the "disco sucks" era. This live version of a classic tune exposes these guys at the top of this thread as total frauds, and establishes me as their mortal enemy! Let me know if anyone has a plan, i'd do just about anything to help destroy them and their kind lol! a little musical advil lol! That song is pretty awesome ! The intro and verse sound just like a Bob Marley Reggae song . Then the Bridge sounds like a David Bowie song and when they go from the bridge and you hear the last chorus it really sounds David Bowie .

I believe Nashville is signing their own death warrant with this stuff. I spend most of my time these days cruising independent artists who have something to say. There is a gold mine of self published goodies to be grabbed. I figure if I'm doing this kind of buying, others are as well. Just a matter of time before it all goes south for them in the "ville". Sad. Shouldn't be this way but they are forcing our hand.

Better stuff is coming. I think Lee Brice's stuff is good. Casey Musgraves...Hopefully the artist I'm working with will get a deal...and I'm proud of the stuff we're finishing up...Oh, btw - looks like we're getting Reid Shippen to mix the first two...I've got three songs on Rachel Bradshaw's album that's coming out and all three are pretty deep...I said a while back that I don't really want to be involved with any song that I would be embarrassed to play for one of my idols...If I wouldn't want to play it for Tom Petty, then I ain't writing it.

new thing ZZ Ward. ... it's GREAT next to Ward's debut. Crazy good. This "Ward" talk is very confusing for me... points made about 360ยบ deals are right on the money. It's very hard to place a song now, especially a good one, because no publisher can sell it anywhere! -The Original Ward.
