IGS Audio. These guys have a lot of good looking stuff.
I have only heard reports on the S type 500 series comp. Anyone have experiences with their other gear? Primarily interested in the 500 series stuff.

I had an S-type.... it was a very good VCA buss comp. It had some hidden sounds in it as well if you adjusted the mix knob along with the attack/release.
I've heard really good things about the Rubber Bands EQ and the LA2A 500 is supposed to sound very good. For the price they are hard to beat.

You know, i kind of put together a little theory about who's behind IGS and was further validated by others who had come to the same conclusion. If you look at the layout it has a certain design signature. I can't prove anything but if its who I think it is its good stuff. I'm rambling. I tried out their Tubecore and thought it was definitely high quality.

That looks great, until you get to the price list. 2,500 Euros. ouch. Guess I'll stay with my cheap Vesta RV-3. In general, I've had good experiences with stuff from Poland, they're pretty good builders and know what they do. ProReplicas' gear is top notch. Never tried any IGS products, though, but I've had an eye on his SSL-type comp for a while.

I have an S-type. Very happy with it. Good build quality and nice sounds. I used it extensively on the mix bus for my last project.

The insides of Rubber Bands looks very similar to other stuff. I'm not interested in pointing fingers. They use Edcor in nearly everything, which ain't terrible but comparing them to cinemag or carnhill like other reputable desingers... well there is no comparison. Poor choice IMO for stuff that runs in the plus $1500 price point. I'm sure the s-type is good. The mixbuzz was great. I used it at a friends just last week and its a solid bus comp. I wonder when the he69 makes it into the market.

I'm not sure that Edcor isn't just as good as Cinemag on the output. I've got quite a few Edcor transformers around here and if you swapped one in a Cine's place I just don't think you'd be all that taken back, in fact I really don't know if you'd hear any difference, maybe a slightly different tone? But, if it's steel for steel I'll go Edcor all day everyday. Now, Carnhill, I will make the exception there, Carnhill does have it's own sound that I do love, I do agree with you there.
Edcor just needs to get better geared into the mu-metal can input side and see if they can produce a version in the $30 mark.

A mu metal shield can cost well more than $30. It won't happen.
Edcor, you are quality control, 15-20% I buy are DOA on arrival. Check any you purchase immediately. That's part of why they are cheap.

I've never had one fail... always had really good experience with them, granted I'm not buying in big quantities, but I've never had one fail on me so far.
I'm hopeful a company will find a way to reduce the cost of shielded input trafo's. I think if one could do it Edcor I have faith in.

Thanks for the insight guys. I knew from groupdiy.com that igor was part of IGS. Really still interested in people's experiences with them.
Keep it coming.

I tried the LA500 or whatever its called...it was actually pretty good, miss it...more hi-fi than my LA2A and more options but not the vibe.

Ive had 3 doa edcor audio transformers and one mislabeled power xfmr. Almost sent 250v into a circuit expecting 9v. Thankfully I checked the filaments before connecting them. I tried edcors in tube preamps and didnt like them. I tried them on 312 circuits and returned to the cinemags and EA's. I didn't bother with the neve clones. The pultec though; they were great in them. And the LA2A.

I recently got the stereo rubberbands eq and ive gotta say it’s fantastic. Does everything pultecy really well to my ears. Really up’d my game on the mix buss. I had a question about swapping op amps and got a couple responses from igor right away. This “pultec” experience led me to buy a klark peq. Unfortunately I suffered through the 30 pages of that drivel and infighting. But in conclusion, loving my igs rubberbands for mixing and mastering. 🍻

Edcor is a giant oem, most of their stock audio transformers are pretty simple designs, but when it comes to OEM work they are the ones making the private label transformers in some of the most respected gear out there.

I auditioned edcor transformers in my la2a clone and heard so little difference I sold the original UTC transformers for more than I built the la2a for..
