OK - I just tried out the Bluesbreaker...Really nice job on it. I still can't get it to sound as good as the Kemper and that was just with me going to the rig exchange and downloading "Bluesbreaker BROWNIE" for free...It's a monster

I guess I'm interested in the Eventide, and wondering how Oxide compares to the Studer. I already have Ampex I would be looking for something for channel inserts and tracking. These Oxide demos sound cool, thanks for posting.

Yeah - really brings out the bottom. The slate tape thing does too, but this thing seemed easier to get there and just worked.

This is all good only because music today NEEDS to sound like it used to. Not that the music is going to sound like it used to, but if digi emu's get that euphonic thing going like we old timers knew it, it'll help a little restoring the value of recorded music to youngsters that we all took for granted.

I tried it for about 30 seconds in headphones (that's about the level of free time I have right now) and it sounded pretty cool. Immediately struck me as being somewhere between VTM and UAD102.

The samples I have heard of Oxide sounds like it could be the best tape thing yet. Still not the magic bullet but better/best. I will demo it at some point.

It really is...I just bought the BX20 which is just fantastic. I thought I could get by without Oxide, but I don't think so. IMHO, it blows VTM away. I'm using it on Stems and it just makes everything punchier and bigger.

Damn it, just when I was forgetting all about UAD, they make this Oxide plug. From the little I've heard, it sure sounds a lot like what recording to tape sounded like. I have the ATR 102, but never use it on tracks, just the 2 bus. It would be nice to have something to use on tracks if I like. i'm waiting for the Ocean Way plugin to go on sale. That, and the oxide should help me get closer to the sound I really want, which is to record in good rooms again. Tape was a royal pain in the ass, as pleasing as it sounded. Even if I could go all analogue, I'd hesitate to get tape rolling again.
That track sound really good John. I do hear a little crunchiness, but not having demo'd it yet, I'd assume it can be dialed in as much or as little as I want, no?
I had VTM, and I never felt it sounded right at all, and it was so buggy when I got it, Slate allowed me to exchange it for the FG-X.

Honestly, other an adding bottom end and hearing distortion when cranked, I don't find much use at all for the VTM. Oxide seems to add girth on the bottom - like punch and weight. And then can add a little crispy on top. Bass just seems to sound better when you push it. It's impressive.

Even with having only watched the UAD promo demo and hearing John's track I can tell already it sounds the closest to what 24 tracks to tape sounded like of any tape sim I've heard. I loved Studer's in studios, but disliked all of the various "Studer" tape sims. This thing is way closer. I'll demo it at some point..
