I use the GLS (speakerrepair.com) cables for my patchbays. Stuff seems fine and the price is right. Haven't had a cable fail on me (knock on wood).

Peruse EBAY. I've found name brand connectors in lots/batches for cheaper than new no-name stuff. I bought bags full of ELCO connectors and DB25 hoods for less than 10$ for the whole bag.
Studios are always going out of business so you can find used snakes pulled from installations that will have connectors already installed, usually at one end, the other end cut.
You can also find used raw snake cable for way cheaper.
I wired my whole studio with Neutrik XLR/TRS/ELCO/Speakon connectors, and roughly 200ft of Mogami/canare/belden cable and ~400 TT patch points for less than 300$. I also bought 50 Neutrik TT cables for 100$ too.
All it took was a little time and searching.
I bought a pack of GLS XLR cables once. They were decent quality, much better than GC sale cables, but not as good as Neutrik brand cables. The connectors were Neutrik knockoffs. The cable was easy to solder, flexible and strong but had a really bad tendency to twist in the jacket leaving the cable looking super lumpy after a couple windings.
Oh, and I'm sure you know this, but always get about 30% more cable than you think you need. This allows you to move things around a bit after installation or it allows you to trim the cable a bit in case you mess up the end somehow.

I actually wired my place up with mostly solid-core AES digital stuff ( Gotham 16308 GAC-8pair foil AES Multipair cable with foil shield ). Got it at a very nice discount because apparently Gotham USA doesn't sell a lot of the solid-core, foil shield stuff. Sounds just great to me (mostly used in runs to and from my Radar machine in the next room - wired up to a patchbay), and I found it pretty easy to work with. I've also used the more normal double-shielded AES cable ( Gotham 10601 GAC-2 AES Low loss flexible AES cable) for mic cables and such. Very nice cable, indeed.
