Just checked this out. Nice little recording they made. If I were just getting into recording, I would probably buy something like this 8P and a pile of UA plugins and have a nice rig with a tiny footprint.

This is nice also……past the mask gimmick.

Agree the dude Creep me also. I do prefer the Zen, it's got more bottom, yes it's resolve in less high end.But both are pretty fine to me.<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/4e0df334/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

I've said it from day one, if a person can't make a great sounding record with an Apollo, they simply can't make a great sounding record. And my assumption (without hearing the new ones) is they are only different, not necessarily better. Little eq here, little there, boom, same.

I agree with you cowboy and all the great trax on your gs thread are evidence. having had stock, bla mod stock and now new bf, i'd give the sonic edge to new bf but it's not a big difference.
The new Apollo has a couple of other features too!

Just checked this out. Nice little recording they made. If I were just getting into recording, I would probably buy something like this 8P and a pile of UA plugins and have a nice rig with a tiny footprint. That was a good video. I like the clocking over thunderbolt or whatever they call it. This gives me a firm goal. I've got an Apollo Duo in my main rack along with tons of other gear plugged into the back of it. It would be really great to get a second Apollo 16 to live in my mic preamp/ high end/ tracking rack. That way I could grab it and go for a mobile gig and only have to disconnect a single cable, and only carry one medium sized rack case. Plus I would have the advantage of more UAD cores and all the plugins to make up for whatever I need in terms of reverb, compression, or whatever, without having to haul my big hardware mixing rack. It would be sort of a "studio in a box" thing and only takes up a 6U rack including CAPI mic preamps, DBX compressors, SCA preamps and a few DI inputs. I can't imagine I'll ever need more than 18 input channels at once. It's going to take some time and money but my plan is to fully flesh out this rig over the next few years, one module at a time. In the mean time, I'll be using the el-cheapo secondary gear rack below it for any mobile setups, with the decent pro-sumer gear I formerly used in my main rig. Not a bad setup for now anyway, but it will be really satisfying to finally graduate fully from mid-end gear to a truly high-end front end for all recordings. It's cheaper than building motorcycles and cars anyway. Hahaha. I like visualizing my studio progress it helps me to make the right purchases. It's helpful to see how other people use the gear too.

star clock up to 6 devices. The new 16 has the best DA converters but only 4 sharc chips on board for tracking with UA dsp, if that also is part of yoru workflow or 4 more sharc chips for mixing.
