The legitimacy of a vintage U67 goes without saying, the mic cowboy displayed is very very nice indeed! But for those who might want something in that vicinity, do this www.vintagemicrophonepcbkit.com/DU67.html It will cost a fraction of an original, and No one will be able to tell the diff in a blind. A U67 is not voodoo electronically, the capsule, tube and tranny is a bit of voodoo. I'd suggest getting Ioaudio BV12 transformers, a Neumann k67 capsule/or shannon at mic rehab to tweak another HQ K67 capsule, and Christian Whitmore for your pre tested/low noise tubes. It will be every bit of a U67. you're welcome T I agree with your sentiments TC, but you know Herbie's hourly rate just went up and now that a genuine 67 is on the list people will pay it.

Thanks Anton. Heres a pic of my humble tracking room for Matt. Herbie, that mic is obviously in good hands! Curious as to why I never hear you mention the 84 in the picture man. When i first got that mic I was bananas for it. Smoooooooooth. Of course, now that you've got a real 67. ;-) Shane I love my R-84's. Use them on something nearly everyday. Not the right animal for everything but magic for the right application. Drum overheads is where they stay most of the time. It's great on certain vocals too. Great microphones.

Ahhh... that's so good. What I hear is the mic keeps your focus without having to exaggerate much, it warms things up just the right way, creating an impression of intimacy, and it doesn't distort high frequencies.
This is a great example of "sitting" in a mix, never too loud, never too low, just perfect. This reminds me of Kenny Chesney's vocal sound on "Come Over", which is about as good as it gets in that style. I think you can give those other main vocal mics you have a rest now. This mic's all anyone could hope for in a mic, there might be a couple of others in this class that someone prefers, like an ELA 251 or an original C12, but at this level, they're all mic royalty, and I'd be proud to own any one of them. Congratulations again cowboy, your efforts are paying off beautifully.
