I was going to build one out of some BMW seat adjusting motors i have laying around, until i saw this, It looks incredibly useful, and if i can sit at my console and move the mic as i'm listening, it will keep me and my ears focused, and save a crazy amount of time! The single best thing i can see about it is that after you get the placement you desire, you just put that perfectly placed mic into another stand in the identical position, and move the robotic arm to the next source, I see myself being able to achieve exactly the sounds i'm looking for in a ridiculously short amount of time! I don't know about you guys, but there has been plenty of times when i felt i was "almost there" with a sound, could have used a little more tweaking, and just said "F-it! good enough", with this thing that wouldn't happen, i'll see what the reviews are like when it comes out, if it's solid, i'm getting one for sure.

That's pretty badass!
This is one of those products that's so awesome, and so "obvious" in hindsight, it feels like, "why didn't I think of that" or "you mean no one ever thought of this before???"
Wow!

I've been thinking about doing something like this myself. Quite an undertaking though.

It's possible to do this with the guts from an old printer and good quality drawer guides (with ball bearings). Set it up as a CNC machine to run G-code for your axis placements. CHEAP~!

I think I just found a Christmas present for myself. Looks like the top of the line with 2 axis and rotation will come in around $600. If it's a solid product, then that's totally worth it. DynaMount Shop
