So, I think it's time to up the security for the studio.
I have the regular stuff right now, but I'd like to see what's going on around the place, mainly outside, when I'm not around. I've found footprints and such before and wonder who's trying to peek in the windows..
I do have a couple requirements which seem to make it impossible to find what I want..
1. Wireless - I want to be able to move these around.. 2. Records to USB HDDs 3. HD 4. View streams over phone
It seems that most options have maybe 3 of those at any time.
The one I really like is the Arlo system, but it doesn't have USB HDD recording and tries to force you to pay for monthly cloud storage, which I don't want to do.
So, any other thoughts or ideas or products I should look at?

I see these ads on the subway all the time: canary.is/ seems pretty rad for renters like me. if I weren't working from home every day of the week, i'd probably pick one up.

there are several wi-fi ip cams at good prices around the web, the advantage of the ip cams is that they have often 1mp or two of resolution.
The new generation analog cams have high resolution, even 1 mp, but the ip cams' images have very often more details than the images of these high resolution analog cams.
A problem of the ip cams is that these ones are based on CMOS sensors so their low light performances are very often lower than those of the CCD sensors of the analog cams.
Another problem is that often cheap wifi ip cameras cannot cover long distances with their wifi section.
