You know, I finally got around to reading the SOS I picked up at NAMM (see below what prompted the reading)....round up of PC CPUS....I found the upset of the new 8 core i7 to be a glitch I'm tempted to take advantage of before intel closes it somehow. I swore I was no longer going to have a dedicated DAW machine whenever my current 8 year old PC goes belly up**....just plug into whatever Turing Machine was around and I could rig up to record....but, I'm really tempted. Put in a couple of those iNtel 400gb PCIe SSDs....Win7x64....call it "the last and ultimate DAW". **which is what prompted this-it's CPU fan got intermittent and dropped a some cores temporarily (and got CRAZY loud as the rest of the fans tried to compensate)....until I troubleshot and repaired that-I thought it might BE belly up....I was looking at the options-new Macs not faster than my 8 year old PC it would replace (yet requiring now audio interface and software upgrades)....touchscreen PCs running Win8/10 and requiring lots of software upgrades.....and then this new 8 core? Brought back native PCI with the Z97 chipset. So, no need for audio interface purchase....no need to upgrade any audio software....might be the last straight hardware refresh I'll be able to do.
