As i said when I bought the unit, I thought I'd post a song I wrote and recorded with and without the GML 8200 EQ on the mix bus for you guys to hear it's effect. I may have overdone it. I don't know. It takes awhile to get a feel for new gear. So, any comments on the song fidelity with and without the 8200 would be welcome, as would any general song comments.
Thanks to anybody who shares their thoughts ~Frank

Interesting I am not a pro so take this however. If you said I was only allowed to take one copy it would be the No GML. However I really like some aspects of the GML the guitars sound fantastic but the high's on the drums hurt my ears. If you could blend the 2 you would have a winner IMHO. BTW great song.

Hey Frank,
I'm a musician first - and I'm just an engineer wannabe, so I'll start with what I know best. I really enjoyed the tapestry/color palette of the track. The music is super accessible and your voice sits really nicely in the arrangement. The write is solid and keeps me captivated. The way you sing behind the pocket keeps the drags on it nicely. With that in mind, and I don't know if you already did, but I might try bumping it up a good 4-6 bpm.
As for the EQ - I felt I had to level match to keep it fair (so you boosted more than you cut? ..or is it just that good?) but even giving the volume a little gas on the No EQ version I thought the EQ opened it up in the upper mids real nice, and did you do something to make the bass stand out a little better against the kick? ..maybe by cutting something below or above it?

Thanks for your thoughts formatcyes. By "the highs on the drums" I assume you're talking about the cymbals and crashes. Correct? I agree about the guitars. If you go back and forth there is a whammy at the end of the center intro guitar riff. With the GML it is much more evident imo. Like I said, I'm new to it. I boosted 10K and the 24K shelf. So, perhaps too much. Listening to it on my TV speakers, I also think the organ is to predominant during the chorus. Thanks for your response!

Hey M57, Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah, I thought about bumping the bpm. I'm going for a Lucinda Williams vibe, which is kinda slow, personal emotive stuff . Unfortunately, I am not Gurf Morlix as a guitar player, or Lucinda Williams as a singer. LOL .Still, maybe it is too slow..... The sucky thing is that I played everything. So, redoing it is a lot of work. I need a band. Heh. Yeah, I didn't spend a lot of time level matching. So, thanks for manual level matching. All I did was boost, and mostly at 10K and above. I always struggle with the bass/kick relationship. I decided to not boost the lower frequencies on the bass, but perhaps I should take a look at that. Thanks again!

Yep cymbals and the crash (the crash is the main offender). I think you are on a winner here the guitars sound amazing I don't know if you boosted to much maybe back of the offending instruments. Wait for some of the pro's to chip in
