Thanks, sll! I will put it through it's paces and report back. I'm in the studio this week, so I'm gonna be short on time, but I'll try and get a comparison up in this thread. Maybe a vocal file with a VP28? One with two Red Dots and one with the Purple dot and red dot.

Tried it extremely quickly today...Honestly, I'll have to record and compare the two to really be able to tell any differences. It didn't immediately strike me as dramatically different.

I am so sorry I haven't gotten to use this damn thing! I'm out of town right now, but I swear I'm gonna come back with a full report next week!

No problem John. I didn't do any critical listening before I sent it to you. I measured almost double second order distortion at frequencies above 25K vs. the red dot. Those harmonics fold down into the audible bands to create the distortion we hear.
If I recall, the purple dot was just an quick experiment I did to send to Justin at Primal Gear years ago. He's responsible for me getting my work out to the masses instead of just for myself and my former employer. I think Justin reported the purple dot was too much distortion?
Anyway, Justin liked the red dot, (as did I) and I went from there.
I matched the red dots to the same distortion curves as a Huntington 2520 with a distortion analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and ears.
The purple dot was just a "what if" to see what would happen and not much more involved.

Seems like if you wanted to you could put the "Purple dot" out as a super distortion opamp, no? love your redots, they are truly awesome, i wonder how many i'm gonna need for Jeff's forth coming console!

Thanks Tony, I'll have to do some more listening and tests with the purple dot. It may not be any good? Perhaps the red dot is as far as it can go and still retain enough linearity in the audible bands to be a decent audio opamp? Jeff's console will certainly need a lot of opamps. I can't wait until he releases it. I'll probably have to have one myself. It's certainly a better deal IMHO than most of what's out there in terms of smaller consoles. It will sound better too.

Btw, I am actually using red dots in my Inward Connections Brute...thought they sounded better than the Steve Firlotte VF600's that it came with.

sll Hey Scott - Tried the PD pretty extensively last night, and Justin was right, it's a little hairy for practical use. Hairy is the word I would use for it...I'm sure there are things that it could be used for, but when you've got red dots that sound so freaking good, it would be hard to switch them out for anything else! I might have said this somewhere else or earlier in the thread, but I prefer the red dots compared to every other opamp I've tried.

It has been at least five years since I did the R&D to make my opamps. Too much water under the bridge. I now remember why I abandoned the purple dot. Too much mojo can be a bad thing. Thanks for the good words on the red dots. I'll stick to that formula.
