Is anybody else here writing theme music and background stuff for TV programs? Just wondering what kind of money you're getting based on market sizes.
I've written 3 theme 'songs' (tunes, no singing) for local tv shows over the summer that have debuted this fall. And they don't pay very well, as short as 15 seconds just acoustic guitar for $350 to $1250 for a 90 second bit. Not like it was 20 years ago... like 1/10th the money.
Market size in each case was about 500,000

Yeah, Taxi and co. are total scamsters. The irony of how tightfisted things are with royalties now is that the money you get in video work is still totally nuts - I've friends working in Cam. Op and Lighting Work and I'd nearly want to smack them when they moan about their pay cheques.
