Gig =short for giggling because someone is paying you to playSnare =wires were originally taken from snare line for animal traps
Ride Cymbal =self explanatory, CRASH, SPLASH, RIDEHi Hat =No clue, i'd guess it's as if your tipping your hat?Traps = I assume this is "traps" from trap kit? drum kits were often called trap kits because the drummer appeared trapped in a circle of drums
Gobo = go between.. gobocheers Wiz some of these are slightly more FOS than others 8)

I think Ride comes from the idea that it's a crash you "ride" ie play constant 16th or 8th note patterns on. It wasn't meant for effects like crashs and china crashs and splashs.
In Ireland a gig is any kind of a once off job. My electrician might tell me he can't come because an emergency gig came up, I wouldn't assume him to be playing in a children's hospital.
Skanking - as in the upbeat style of raggae guitar and funk, is the only term that has me lost.

Here, skanking is the dance associated with ska/punk (skunk music).

Someone explain 'Flam'. please Flam arises when you have 10 pints of beer inside the vest and some tequila that you are topping with 5 mojito. Then you sit behind the drums you will get to experience Flam constantly. If you are really really lucky you might experience a FlamParadiddle or flamque. But that is usually after some more pints
