Pretty strange that they would make an update available to PT 12 owners who don't need it and not to 11 owners who could.
I've been watching for it as it's supposed to fix the metering issues with the latest Eucon 3.3 update. I've been wanting to give their new Pro Tools Control iPad app a go and need 3.3.

At DUC there is a post from avid support sounds it may just be a screw up but they could just say that and better manage expectations ?

If you own 9-11, the recent announcement about getting 12 for $99 seems interesting but only if it a perpetual license with no hidden penalities.
We have until the end of this year to decide, so if they soon provide the FREE . update to 11, as was stated would be the case by Avid Tony ( not RGO Tony) on pro tools expert site, then a more viabel option may be developing ?

This honestly sucks. If pro tools wasn't ubiquitous, and we were starting from scratch, I can't think of a single reason anyone would buy it compared to the plethora of wonderful tools that come with Logic X for $200, and then free upgrades for a long, long time.

So - is it a perpetual license?

Pro Tools, the gift that keeps on taking. Seems like audio heroin to me.
Two companies I've avoided my entire life: Apple and AVID.

So - is it a perpetual license? 12 upgrade at $99 ? I am not certain, Avid was playing games with whether the new plugs available in 12 were perpetual or not. To be honest I just stopped reading the posts. If you can get 11.3.2 and then a 12 perpetual license for $99, I probably will, other than that either logic or maybe studio one.

I spoke too soom
11-12 $199, $99 ( seems to be limited to one year one year?)
from avid site:
Pro Tools 11 Customers Who Want to Upgrade to Pro Tools 12 (Standard)
You have a few options to upgrade to Pro Tools 12 before the end of the year:
Like above, it’s $199 to get the upgrade to Pro Tools 12, the upgrade plan (covering any new releases during that year), the support plan as well as access to the new plug-in bundle You can upgrade to Pro Tools 12 and just get software upgrades for the year for only $99 You can get just support and access to the new plug-in bundle for $99 You can wait until 2016 and beyond and get back on an annual upgrade plan for $299—access to the plug-in bundle and support would cost an additional $99
If you buy the $199 Annual Plan before the end of September, you can also get a perpetual license for the great Amp/Speaker simulation plug-in Eleven. A $499 value!

Avid have been a bunch of boobs with this whole thing.
I made the switch from PT10 + CPTK to the PT HD license when 11 came out. I certainly know I am not going to pay them $599 for the privilege of possible future updates for one year. and by the looks of it now they can't hardly figure out who is supposed to get what and when.
