I'm thinking about doing some point to point 500 gear..... I've recently discovered a great company that has some incredible options for DC-DC converters. I've got 4 of their units they sent over to me so I can get a plate voltage of 325v, run 3v-5v heaters and still have plenty of room for DOA's and vibey components. I'm kind of giddy over custom building my own turret boards and able to use old school vintage components. I think my first one will be a REdd 47. Probably do a mix of Mallory and Sprague for caps, maybe some orange drops.... I want to see how much mojo I can get out of a 500 unit. I may do PCB's for the power section and for the tube setup and placement just to save space, but that and the card fingers would be the only PCB's on the whole unit. The beauty is I can etch all these myself.... so I don't even need to go to a PCB maker. I'm really excited about this for some reason.... using a mixture of P2P and PCB's in a 500.... just seems freakin cool to me.
What you guys think? Sound cool?

Yeah it sounds cool. Especially since your tackling a tube preamp at the get go. I've only done a few p2p pieces but I liked doing it so can certainly understand. I never even considered 500 series. Is there any p2p 500 series stuff out there? For that matter theirs probably only a handful of tube based 500 gear on the market. Silent arts 'GIX' comes to mind. Rolls music tube preamp is another. IGS One LA Im sure there's others but not many. Good luck. Dylan
