If I ever buy a house, I hope there's a studio already built in, or at least a garage that can be easily converted.

That probably cost more than my house.

If I ever buy a house, I hope there's a studio already built in, or at least a garage that can be easily converted. That's the situation I'm in now. I had two houses, sold one, about to put an offer in on a real beauty of a place just at the edge of the city but in a country setting. $600K is what we'll probably settle on. Has a detached garage that's 25'x36', which I'll extend further to 25' by 66' so that it can come up flush to the house and I can have an entrance way to my home. The garage building has 20' of height so it should make for a great studio. I'm working with Jeff Hedback. My clients are as excited as I am. Country setting, home feel, complete separation from or integration with family life, great ground and a great pool... I can have their families over, or for the more rock'n'roll lifestyle types, it's got a huge wave-pool/hottub too for all kinds of debauchery. This kind of set-up is ideal. It's "boutique" commercial, which is what everyone with a few bucks to spend is looking for. Good luck finding your own, mjb!

Good luck to that studio. It's really tough to start mid-large studios these days with all the armchair engineers and their Mboxes and Digi003's.
