Hmm. It seemed like a very light overview of a lot of different micing techniques. Unfortunately it didn't cover any of the actual physics of *why* you do certain things, which is what a lot of these types of videos leave out. I was left with the feeling that it was more of a promotional video than an educational video.
I think videos of these types are double edge swords. On one hand, they can help you see new things but on the other hand they also falsely allow people to feel that mic placement and recording in general is a lot easier than it is. "Just put the mic above the snare about a couple inches and in a couple inches.." Does not cover how different types of heads have different resonating patterns and moving the mic up/down/back/forth a half an inch can turn your ringing snare into a cardboard box, etc..

I think it was just good elementary show n tell stuff, good starting points for peeps to think about, build off of and experiment with, without having to make a 4 hour "how to" video. Don't know if a guy that engineered lady gaga, shakira needs to promo(pretty sure he did this)? I thought it was pretty cool, and you can see he loves it, it's definitely more informative than any video i've offered lol!
