I guess I could call down to Blackbird and see their recs....but, I know there are Nashville folk here....so, I discovered my LA610 has a metering issue--no idea how long it's been going on, as I don't use the compressor section a lot. I'd like to get it fixed....but, UA's instructions were generic "send it to us, authorize us to fix whatever....it will be at least $200....not sure about turn around time"
Problem is simple: there's a shared meter--it has a switch that switches between preamp level (works), output level (works) and gain reduction (doesn't work). It sounds great. It compresses as it should....but, the meter reads no reduction OR it reads a little reduction REALLY super slow moving. You could be PLASTERING the signal, and it just sort of moves a few DB slow as molasses. And it should be noted the meter is FAST moving for the levels...so physically, it can move fine.
So, in my mind, it's some kind of calibration is--the meter works (see other two modes)--just isn't getting the right something from the detection/reduction circuit. There are a number of variable resistors in the unit for calibration-I logged the ticket to ask for calibration instructions....and got what amounted to a form letter to apply for an RA#.
Venting a bit, maybe....but, I had also asked them who the local authorized repair shop is....which they didn't answer....thought I'd ask here who anyone has had luck with.

There should be about 250 talented repair guys in Nashville, at least! You could call up Pepper's and see what they have to say. And ask @sinsay as he probably knows a bunch of guys too.
