Isn't the improvement with the black- vs silverface supposed to be to the DAC? I never had a problem with SF's ADC...just my $0.02.

the bf has been fundamentally redesigned for improved sonics , so theoretically better. I prefer my bf to the sf
the new 16 bf has the top of the line DA, the 8 and 16 have the same new AD.

Thanks for the link! I got really busy right as the BF was released, but now that I have some time again, my interest in the Apollo is rekindled. I've been quite curious what people are thinking about the new versions, and was hoping someone may have made a comparison while I was gone haha
Upon first listen I think the first section sounds more "alive," but I may take another listen later

Doesn't the Silverface 16 have better adda than the Silverface 8's? Seeing as that's what most people would purchase, I wish they had compared those. (I haven't clicked on the link though)

Without a doubt the first shot sounds best. Can only hope that the first take is SF so I will not have to buy BF  But I can put my right hand on that BF is the first take, damn! |

sorry to worry you drumrec, but although not confirmed by the OP yet, at UA forum everyone believes first clip is the BF !
