They posted a couple of videos at the Ua forum, one for Sony 7506. I have the Sony 7506, when I first started using them, I like them but found mix decisions did not translate well after watching the video, I was curious about the Sonar works headphone correction plug. So, I tried it and had very interesting experience ! The freq correction for the 7506’s is a bit of an ear opener ! At first it seemed flat and dull and then I heard the naturalness and realized how hyped the standard headphones are !! (see screenshot below of typical and corrected freq response.) One thing, the correction software reduces the overall volume a few db, (see top right hand corner of gui) so when you bypass to A/B; you need to be aware of that. The GUI has a large folder of average response curves for a variety of headphones, perhaps yours ? (see screenshot) edit: forgot to mention there is a free demo and download and install was fast and easy, fun to do with a fresh cuppa joe sonarworks.com/try-now/

i demoed it a while back. didnt end up buying it. it was around the same time i was going through different da interfaces and the difference between converters can be almost as dramatic as headphones. yet they didnt account for these variances or for the headphone amp which can be even more dramatic. i just didnt feel comfortable slapping generic curves across the master. it was pretty interesting though and would probably buy it on sale just as another reference tool.

That's what I like about the 21 day free trial: try before you buy
if your can's freq profile is far from flat as my sony's is that would affect everything you hear post conversion.
You can bypass the plug in your daw and immediately hear their original sound: that's a bit of an ear opener depending on how flat they are:)

I bought this a while ago and was blown away by the difference it made in my Beyer DT880 Pro. I reference a lot with it, but I haven't done any mixing. The DT880 has quite a lot of high end boost and low end cut that I wasn't aware of, I feel that bass decisions are a lot easier with this. For guitars and drums, it means that I have to actually boost the top more than I would do without it, but I have yet to check on other systems how it translates. Not sure if the top will be too pronounced. Anyway, this is quite interesting and useful for me.

The only thing I liked 7506's for was to sing with them. I use the ATH M50's and lovem! The Sonys are harsh to me.

Agreed: look at the graph in the first screenshot I posted: the hi end hype of the stock 7506: that is what the correction removes

Realize that the pro and Audiophile world have crossed so often it isn't funny, I grew up in both. Long before Micheal Fremer was writing about Vinyl's sonic supiorority there were many voicing the same in the audiophile world and in mainstream press. Both have had their share of Brilliant Minds ( Tony Coredesman National Security Expert who you see often on the Television is the same Anthony Cordesman who write for the Absolute sound AC was around way before MF) Richard Brown of B.E.L 1001 amp fame (one of the few amps I think beats one of JWs adcoms) was one of the top Nuclear Physists a real life Sheldon Cooper. But The Audiophiles take the nutcase award for "The Magic Clock" , Not a digital word clock , Bhutan obscure Japanease digital Alarm Clock that some how when plugged in somehow made your power cleaner. Part of why we laugh at the world of high end audio is the fact that not everybody's idea of sonic bliss is the same (sane?) and for every taste there is somebody willing to build part of a system to please for a price ! Look a lot of the high end is about fashion and pleasing those with far more money than brains, who like to impress their freinds but at its heart and soul it is about people who love music and what they can spend on a system , If you can find a better musical experience than my Magnepan 3.5rs for the $1500 I paid used I want to hear it! The Audiophile press and dealer world is as political and cut throat as a Season of House of Cards there is so much BS behind what you read that I won't take any "review seriously. It's a fun expensive hobby that we are really stupid to laugh at because they are the ones paying are bills!

I think sound is like beauty: in the mind of the beholder.
Find gear that works for you, your mixes and that translates well, what more do you need ?
