It's like King is apologizing ("in hind-sight" he says) for the obscene amounts of compression. From what I heard, there's nothing appealing (to me) about the goal he's aiming for - typical fare, although the tunes had more to offer than what was done for the end-product.

He's simply trying to justify himself because he knows there's a bunch of critics out there on internet forums.

I like his workflow, I could see myself adopting a similar approach. I like his general treatment of the drum kit too, kind of reminds me of James Meeker's how-to on drum mixing. When I checked out the song on YouTube I couldn't even make it all the way through, not my style at all.
