I could imagine it could be really overwhelming...Just looking for some cool pads with movement. Mixing some stuff and impressed with some of the ones I've heard.

Honestly, I had Atmopshere...and never used it once. Pads are, like many things, ad matter of what they sound like in the background of a mix...and their pad sound design just didn't gel with me. But, if you specifically want pads with movement, maybe you'll like it. Lots of people do.

I've been wanting to pick it up but Native Instruments has been giving me everything I need in the Komplete bundle. Both are great for the studio and live use. Omnisphere is probably more specialized for what you're looking for but not as expansive as NI.

It's an excellent synth that is very rich. Run it through some nice pre's and comps and it fits well. Tons of moving pads with personality that can be too much for simple use. Great arpeggiated sounds. I heard a commercial a while ago that sounded like the composer hit a key on an Omnisphere patch and just let it run for 15 seconds!!LOL

it's been out for a few years, too. There was a period where it was used on every movie score and TV show. District 9 was Omnisphere and a string orchestra, almost exclusively. Spectrasonics actually had an article about that film and omnisphere's role in the score. So, it does way more than just pads. Also, the latest version lets you read the Trilian library, so you don't ever need to open up the Trilian plugin. Kinda cool if you use both libraries. It is a ROMpler, tho. the synth engine, while advertised as deep, is just a 2-layer engine with a MASSIVE amount of keymaps to choose from. Also, you can't load your own samples. Still, it'll get you 95% of the way there, wherever you're trying to go!
