Johnkenns powerstrip thread has got me all pumped up. heres my dilemma. i would have to sell my 2 ez1073's and ubk fatso and then some in order to afford the 2 powerstrips. here are the pros and cons
even though the ez eq is more versatile i feel i can do it itb with VMR and equilibrium. id rather have a more robust curve if im gonna send it out to hw anyways so in that aspect ps wins.
the ubk is seriously ridiculous for everything it does. i used to pass every single track through it to print. maybe just for saturation. or just to add some trafo to a soft synth. or just the comp section. since i got the anamod ats-1 ive been using it less. plus ive convinced myself the ps comp section will be versatile enough on its own, and its greatness is better than any of the fatso single comps alone. - winner ps
the pres i worry a little bit about because my main mic is a tube mic (mk-47). im not sure how i feel about tube on tube. i already know and love the ez mic pre. plus it has a separate line trafo just to mix it up a little bit when i send things back out. - winner ez
1 benefit of a channel strip box is freeing up some i/o and patchbay space. that is a plus for the ps, but on the down side i can only use it on 1 stereo 2 mono as opposed to 2 and 4. - draw
the biggest problem for me is going to be downtime having to sell b4 i buy, plus having to wait for it to ship bc i cant buy anything that expensive in cali with a 10% sales tax.... plus its significantly more expensive than what ive got now.
overall i think it would be an upgrade, but im not sure if it will be significant enough for the time and money spent. what do you guys think? keep in mind im just a hobbyist and will probably never make a single penny i spend back.
thanks.
