Thanks! They all have their merits and choosing is gonna be tough. I mostly need a pair for processing with vintage compressors from the 30's and 40's, but being able to incorporate pedals is certainly another plus.

it strikes me how expensive these modules are. $500-$700+ for a blender is really really over the top. I don't care what's inside it.

Well you can partially blame that on dealer markup. This is the type of product that in basic form would make a good kit.

What 1930's comp do you have? There aren't many.
No input on 500 series blenders. Console and patch bay mult comes to mind.

The Send N Blend is half that and works great.

I had another look. Ok, $400 and up. That's still way over the top.
I have been wanting to make a line level box passive blender for myself but next up is an m/s box.
A kit would be excellent. I often double mic stuff and would like to send 1 channel to the converters or console.

You can do resistive blenders, transformer blenders, active blenders, all pretty easy DIY. Those great little Radio Shack experimenters boards are only a few $. Slap them in a Classic Audio Products 500 frame and faceplate with edge connector to make your own if it needs to be that way.

check out Radial Engineering. They have some mic combiners in 500 format. Don't know prices.

Hey Randy, you have a guy that does restoration work on your old compressors and such right? I bet the could probably build a 4 channel version of one of these into a 2U rack box with some vintage looking knobs to match your gear for the price of a single one of these 500 series units.

I don't know a tech that will work that cheap and do solid work. I am so busy in the studio that I have no time for any DIY at this time and was wanting a quick solution.

I had another look. Ok, $400 and up. That's still way over the top. It is what it is. Either pay it or buy a cheap console. If you don't mind what a Mackie sounds like, you can get 8 "blenders" for less than half the price of 1 500 series blender.

Yeah for simple blending I would look at some of the many used install or broadcast simple mixers .

I"m already using a fully modified cal ghost.
It's just easier to use a box sometimes and avoid all of the console circuitry. Currently using either the groups or aux.

Nah, not into having any more console in my way other than the Smart Av. I wanted a handy blender, not a big Mackie boat anchor that I wouldn't even remotely like the tone of. I have my signal chains pretty organized and know what I want out of them sonically. I just want a mix and blend setup that is easy to plug in and go. Looks like the TK one is more to suit what I need.

Does anyone know if there's a plugin that does this?
It'd be awesome to put a blender/mix knob plugin after a hardware insert and have it blend that piece of hardware to taste. Is there anything that does this?

I already have a pretty elaborate set up, Wiz. I was trying to avoid that and print with more efficiency. I want to track with it as well, which will shave my post work time down and be more streamlined. I like to commit and roll baby!

Randy I get your point, but man I still see soo much value of having a small line mixer lying around! From simple mixes to just having the ability to have some gain or attenuation before going digital!
