I'm getting closer to functional here at "Neverland Recording" haha, i need to start thinking about a good/affordable security system, i'm interested in mobile device/wifi operated, multi camera, high decibel alarm drivers on site, complete with virtual alligator motes, wifi teargas dispersing devices, and a real time CA system(criminal address 8), so I can speak into my Iphone straight to said criminals ears, "I hope you're enjoying holding my mic in your hands, because as soon as you step outside that door, i'm gonna use this hatchet to lop them off! Honey fire up the wood chipper, yeeeehaaaa!" (complete with mary had a little lamb playing in the background mooohahaha). Ok, I kid on the last part.... well.., then again..., do I? hmmm.. Anyway, if anyone has any experience, good ideas/leads on high powered and affordable systems, please chime in. Thanx

Nothing says security like a pitbull or rottweiler. I know, not as 'techie" as what your looking for, but from my experience, the deterrent factor is significantly more than some cameras or alarm.

The best security is keeping them out to begin with ! Locks and doors are where to put your money! Cameras and alarms are great at letting you know you stuff has grime legs and cameras provide crappy pictures of it leaving!

What ever you do make sure your system has amble battery backup or a protected on demand generator.
Also cameras with IR night vision are a great deterrent. Also make sure you have cameras that can get the facal money shot and a vehicle's license plate.

#1 - if you don't let the perps GET to your iron clad door - #2 you'll never need your hi tech cameras. Which takes us back to the angry dog.
Reality is, you should put equal effort into all aspects of security and MAYBE you will be OK.

Having sold CCTV the problem with the money shot is you either need to go Casino, ie camera every 4 feet with full pan tilt and zoom plus 24/7 human control! Cameras don't get arrests they get convictions if there is an arrest! Anybody who says otherwise is selling you something!

Good stuff, (except... here's what a guard dog should look like, he'll grow up plenty big, with nasty incisors, and he'll be smart enough to know the diff between a baby's face and a burglars leg, cue the "it's not the dog it's the owner" argument , but I digress 8), I've seen some very good things recently, the camera's are MUCH better than ever, total HD, I'm just looking for a solid, low cost package deal that mostly serves as a deterrent. awww, Charlie is sooo sadddd....

I'd say network cams with motion detection and ADT... The ADT sign is a nice deterrent by itself. Video surveillance warning stickers in plain sight. ADT gives a quick response as I found out once at home. I forgot to disarm the system and the law was here in about 7 mins.

Two times they did try to open my door. Truth is that they most often try the front door. We did put some extra locks on it, they go from bottom to the top of the door. And we have locks on all the windows. If you have a lot of windows glas alarm makes sense. Police checkd what we did, and they told us that it will keep away 90% of the usual suspects. They also told us if its real professionals, you cant do anything they know how to do it. I think it have been some junkies in my case, becasue my studio is nothing it would be worth for going in jail. I can tell with ease 8 places in town where they have nohing but the finest of the finest gear. Knock on wood, police was right no one ever tried anything. A save lock keeps away all the hobyists….

I'll 2nd the Rottweiler comment. A security system won't prevent theft. Heavy doors with multiple locks work too.

I have a Rottweiler. She'll lick friends to death... but will scare the living crap out of anyone she doesn't know. She also loves the taste of flesh.
