- finish what has turned into a complete reset of the studio.

My ND is being shipped with a white LED (I think), which is not as blingy. I thought I wouldn't like it, but at Pot Luck Con it was easy on the eyes. Sort of. The sonic character coming at me through their demo cans was what sold it, though.

What you guys think does a mic have too look the part? A 47 look like a 47 etc. I Always wanted to build a 47 but a 251 in it. Just to see people's reaction. And say hey this thing don't sound like a 47, or the few who go that sounds like a 251 ?? Lol

Due to the screen maybe, and also how things were mounted? So it would be a slightly different mic. And very cool, I bet. |

Here it is:  The vibe was hard to catch with my phone. With a screen attached, the LED is actually fairly subtle. Not obnoxious, which is a good thing. |

I think for marketing purposes, looks absolutely matter. I SWEAR a U47 clone - with Shannon's take on an M7, a U47 body ala Wunder, and priced @ $2000...Would sell a SHIT TON. I watched this guy take a $1200 Miktek and blindly go in and tune that capsule SCARILY close to Jeff Steiger's $16,000 251. Since then, he's come up with some other tricks with the capsule that have smoothed things out even more. I haven't tried a Peluso in years - remember thinking they were good, though. But I just find the aesthetics lacking. I think there's a HUGE hole for a $2000 U47 Clone that LOOKS like a 47. Source out the electronics to China and use Shannon's capsule. Same for 251, C12 and the rest. |

here is another blinged out mic, my modded oktava mk319, still has the original capsule, and tranny in it, this mic in front of an acoustic, through a capi vp28 sounds like the led zeppelin "thank you" record vibe..i swear! Its one of my favorites, all my mics are self modded except for Jim Williams modded the rode nt1 mic, that he originally designed(as in, "this is what it was supposed to sound like!"). btw, the picture is the backside of the mic, the switches were pulled, and body filled.  |
