One thing to think about and this just came up as I was emailing a guy who finally bought into mix bus after years of hearing me say he needs it is that it is a great way to bring non RTAS-AAX plugins to the world of PT!

Mixbus v3 : "Interim Release" 1508 is now available on our user forum. You must be a registered forum user to see the "Interim Release" category. This release fixes some issues with ASIO soundcards and VST plugins on Windows that our users reported. On Mac, it fixes Native Instruments "Kontakt" and "Reaktor" instruments. Let us know what you think! -Ben at Harrison

Looks like Harrison will be cornering the DAW market once people recognize what this program REALLY is and how much it is worth (sonically speaking)! I was a none believer that one DAW sounded better than another until I heard this one. They made a believer out of me! (BTW, I own most of the DAWs out there. loGic X, Pro tools, Digital Performer, Cubase,etc...)

Pardon me for being skeptical.

Mixbus 3 doesn't like Soundtoys or Slate plug ins (CPU spikes). Mixbus 2.5 will run them but not save settings. Older Slate like fgx works fine. Hopefully Mixbus 3 will support these in the future since ?I use them all the time. Plug in Alliance is iffy on 3 also. The sound and workflow is what I love about Mixbus. Basically has tape saturation built in and some of the eq features and K metering is very cool.

Just started messing around with this last night.
Couple of questions:
Is there a way I can get every audio track to show in the mixer window without having to scroll? I narrowed the tracks but there are only 6 or 8 that I can see along with 4 bus strips.
When I'm in the mixer window how do I get playback to start at the beginning of the song? I can get it to stop (or pause) but I can't get it to start at the beginning. I'll start researching the playback setting.....

Couple of dumb questions. Looks like you can use third party plugs. If so, why would you buy the Harrison ones?

To see more tracks there is a setting Mixbus, Preferences, GUI, Mixer strip scale make it 80 or 90% To play from the beginning Mixbus, preferences, transport, playhead behavior click play range selection hope that helps

Going to be playing with Mixbus again tonight. Looks like I have to delve into the preferences a bit more.

None of those options show up in my Mixbus Preference dialogues. No option for mix track scaling under GUI or playhead options under the transport preferences. Maybe because I'm on a mac? Yosemite 10.10.3.
I posted on the Mixbus forum........we'll see.

Couple of dumb questions. Looks like you can use third party plugs. If so, why would you buy the Harrison ones? Most probably you want them to have consistency. They are in LV2 format, everything is made to be consistent on all 3 platforms, Win, Mac and Linux. Where I guess that Linux will gain more market share in future, dependent on the development of user friendlier distributions. Whatever system - the tool is the same. Harrison bundles the plugins to Mixbus automatically. So they are always available if Mixbus is installed and work right out-of-the-box everywhere. No dongle, just license textfiles to put in your home folder of the system, for DAW and plugins, and done, no troubles. Also Harrisons licenses are per-user licenses - which i think is very cool. Take a stick with the installers of mixbus and the license files with you and you can install and work on *any* machine with whatever OS in a few minutes, after configuring the sound interface in the starting up dialogue - and the plugins are there. Remove the license files and uninstall mixbus when you go, done. And, as an icing on the cake, if you have the plugin licensed, and give a project to a friend who doesn't have the Harrison plugins licensed - he gets access to the plugins nevertheless when he opens this project! I guess this is a very generous and smart move. So all Mixbus users can share projects of whatever kind with whatever Harrison plugin licenses and work on them instantly as long as no 3rd party plugins are involved - on all platforms. The plugins mostly offer a nice gimmick, something different, or at least something very usable and they are all good sounding - you can count on that. No surprises, no sonic fingerprints that do not fit, if you can't make it good sounding with these tools there is a good chance you can't make it sound good at all. They fit nicely in the mother GUI, style-wise. I bought the Essentials Pack. Got it for a low sales pricing. Nice reverb and delay. Slightly different from what you get with other DAWs internal plugs. E.g. on the reverb, if you turn parameters, and get close to a preset, you can see that preset lightening up additionally to the one you started with and you could try out that one - I like that feature! All parameters on the GUI - no menus. The plugins layout easy to use and well thought, up to the details. The delay is a triple delay where you position the points graphically in the stereo field - with or without snapping to the DAW clock beat. I have another plugin similar to it in the Nomad BT bundle, but the Harrison sounds just better and has the more straight and streamlined user interface IMHO. No doubt just more 3d, more depth. If you look into the plugins videos on youtube, you might find a nice "me too" feature you just want to have in each of the plugins. Personally, i just wonder what the point in the Character Bundle is, but i guess they just speed up workflow considerably and make bass and vocal track problems just easier to fix. Did i mention they just sound good and work just perfectly within the DAW? While i think about it, they work like a digital consoles inbuilt effects in a good way - no menus, clear interface, perfectly fitting the mothership. And this is exactly where this DAW comes from. Everything says "console" to you. You could buy all the plugins and be done with plugins completely and would have a very serious and complete tool for whatever task there is and a high quality sound throughout. And the upgrades to new versions of the DAW are just ridiculously cheap, compared to other DAWs, and you keep the plugin license and are always up-to-date because the plugins are firmly bundled. I really sometimes think i tend to use less and less plugins in mixbus, and in the end i am nearly like having a Harrison digital console plus integrated DAW that can host VIs and that could be it. No worrying anymore if the tools could be better or limit me. Just working with it and be done. No need of additional mojo plugins. Maybe integration of some hardware toolchain. The more i use it, the more i love it. And no - i am not affiliated with Harrison, but Mixbus is a concept that i really really like, obviously.

I just use shortcuts, spacebar for start-pause and return for back to 00:00:00:00 ...?
