Nope, not the TG1 but I've got the Zener here. According to Wade the difference between TG1 and Zener is really subtle, but the Zener of course have a few extra attack/release times. After 7 yrs the Zener is still my fav for drums (I use it in paralel). I also like what it does to electric guitars and electric pianos recorded thru amps.

Well, screw it, I'm gonna go for it. I don't really need a smash box, but the best way to demo is to bring in a used unit right? YOLO. Haha.

I think you'll be very happy with it. For use on drums I think this demo vid at Chandler do it justice, even though that example IS semi smashed. It sounds great with more moderate comp too, or in paralel.

The studio I engineered at for a few years had one and it's definitely a cool piece. I probably wouldn't buy one for myself until I had a lot of the other workhorse compressors already in the rack just because it's not terribly versatile. It really shines on room mics or a sources that you really want to have obvious compression on. That's my experience at least.

Steve Wolf loves that thing. I think he got turned onto it from Luke who uses all of the TG gear, preamps, limiters. There's a demo of him somewhere for Wade.

Great for drum room mics, I also love it on certain vocal tracks.
